Chinese scientists develop ‘vampiric’ technique that may reverse aging process

Scientists in China may have found a way to potentially reverse the aging process via a technique that can be described as “vampiric.”

Published last month in the peer-reviewed journal Cell Stem Cell, the study led by the Chinese Academy of Sciences involved surgically connecting the circulatory systems of old mice to those of younger specimens. After being injected with blood taken from the young mice, the old ones reportedly lived longer.

The process, which involves joining an aged specimen with a young partner, has been known to scientists for at least seven decades as heterochronic parabiosis (HP).

Over the years, several papers have reported HP’s anti-aging effects. Up until recently, the actual impact that young blood has on older circulatory systems remained a mystery.

The new HP stem cell procedure that the researchers developed successfully rejuvenated the older rodents’ adult stem cells and surrounding somatic cells. The degeneration of vital organs and tissues, which naturally occurs during aging, appeared to have reversed temporarily during the scientists’ study. The new treatment, however, had a negative effect on the young mice since their exposure to old blood caused premature aging.

The authors of the study posit that their findings may offer relevant data for further research into anti-aging medical treatment.

"Our work constitutes a mineable resource for advancing our understanding of aging-related systemic factors and how they might be targeted to alleviate aging," they wrote.
hmmmm.... as for humans living longer-- one must ask this question...
Who are they going to --harvest from???? Certainly not mice...-- Tyr

Column: As age-obsessed billionaires turn to ‘vampire’ therapies, the FDA takes a stand Feb. 20, 2019
The federal government finally took a stand this week on vampires feasting on the blood of the young.
    It’s against the practice.
Actually, the Food and Drug Administration issued a warning about older people injecting themselves with the blood plasma of young donors — a fringe therapy that’s marketed as a way to fight aging and a variety of illnesses, including dementia, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
“Simply put, we’re concerned that some patients are being preyed upon by unscrupulous actors touting treatments of plasma from young donors as cures and remedies,” FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb said in a statement. “Such treatments have no proven clinical benefits for the uses for which these clinics are advertising them and are potentially harmful...”

The people who drink human blood
..."By the time he had offered himself as a donor, however, his opinions had taken a U-turn. Many real-life vampires have no belief in the paranormal and have little more than a passing knowledge of True Blood or Dracula; nor do they appear to have any psychiatric issues. Instead, they claim to suffer from a strange medical condition – fatigue, headaches, and excruciating stomach pain – which, they believe, can only be treated by feeding on another human’s blood.
“There are thousands of people doing this in just the US alone, and I don’t think it’s a coincidence, and I don’t think it’s a fad,” says Browning. Their symptoms and behaviour are a genuine mystery....
...Gently questioning his cohort about the onset of the condition, Browning found the hunger for blood seemed to strike around the onset of puberty. One of the first people Browning interviewed, for instance, had been 13 or 14 years old, when he realised he felt weak all the time, lacking all the energy to run and play sports like his friends. Eventually, while fighting with his cousin, he drew blood, and his mouth brushed against the wound. “He suddenly felt a lot of vitality,” says Browning. That taste for blood eventually turned into a compulsive hunger.
It was a common tale that seemed to resonate with most of the vampires he met. Besides relentless fatigue, other common symptoms appear to include severe headaches and stomach cramps. CJ!, for instance, has been plagued with an irritable bowel, which she says can only be cured after a drink of blood. “After consuming a sizeable quantity (somewhere between seven shot glasses to even a cup), our digestive system works wonderfully.
CJ!’s friend “Kinesia” paints a similar picture. “I would go more than a week without a bowel movement while ‘hungry’, and feel nausea if I ate anything other than my ‘cure food’,” she says. Describing her apparent relief following a blood meal, she says: “I felt 100% better; my mental faculties were sharpened. I can eat whatever I want, without running to the bathroom, and there is no joint or muscle pain. This tends to last about two weeks, depending on how much is taken and how often it is taken.”
Needless to say, donors are hard to come by. How do you possibly ask someone to let you drink their blood? CJ! says donors are often close friends who understand her perceived needs; Kinesia feeds from her own husband every couple of weeks. In other cases, it may involve some kind of payment, says Browning. Whatever the precise nature of the donor-vampire relationship, it’s always consensual. “The utmost care is taken of the donor – making sure they are relaxed and willing at all times,” says Kinesia....”
    "Thousands in the US alone"?
"Donors are hard to come by"?
    "Always Consensual"?

really?But.. but... but the super rich would never do anything like that though... coughPedoIslandcough...

And It's so unbelievable that Some Rich People might think that drinking human blood from children might be good for their health... to live longer... much less rape and torture them to make the blood extra special.
Super Rich people never do weird stuff!
    never.
Or ever think they are above everyone,
    or ever use people.

Harvesting the Blood of America’s Poor: The Latest Stage of Capitalism
Blood has become big business in the United States and there is no shortage of corporations ready to exploit America’s most vulnerable populations in order to get a piece of the pie.

For much of the world, donating blood is purely an act of solidarity; a civic duty that the healthy perform to aid others in need. The idea of being paid for such an action would be considered bizarre. But in the United States, it is big business. Indeed, in today’s wretched economy, where around 130 million Americans admit an inability to pay for basic needs like food, housing or healthcare, buying and selling blood is of the few booming industries America has left.

The number of collection centers in the United States has more than doubled since 2005 and blood now makes up well over 2 percent of total U.S. exports by value. To put that in perspective, Americans’ blood is now worth more than all exported corn or soy products that cover vast areas of the country’s heartland. The U.S. supplies fully 70 percent of the world’s plasma, mainly because most other countries have banned the practice on ethical and medical grounds. Exports increased by over 13 percent, to $28.6 billion, between 2016 and 2017, and the plasma market is projected to “grow radiantly,” according to one industry report. The majority goes to wealthy European countries; Germany, for example, buys 15 percent of all U.S. blood exports. China and Japan are also key customers.

It is primarily the plasma– a golden liquid that transports proteins and red and white blood cells around the body– that makes it so sought after. Donated blood is crucial in treating medical conditions such as anemia and cancer and is commonly required to perform surgeries. Pregnant women also frequently need transfusions to treat blood loss during childbirth. Like all maturing industries, a few enormous bloodthirsty companies, such as Grifols and CSL, have come to dominate the American market.

But in order to generate such enormous profits, these vampiric corporations consciously target the poorest and most desperate Americans. One study found that the majority of donors in Cleveland generate more than a third of their income from “donating” blood. The money they receive, notes Professor Kathryn Edin of Princeton University, is literally “the lifeblood of the $2 a day poor.” Professor H. Luke Schaefer of the University of Michigan, Edin’s co-author of $2 a Day: Living on Almost Nothing in America, told MintPress News:

The massive increase in blood plasma sales is a result of an inadequate and in many places non-existent cash safety net, combined with an unstable labor market. Our experience is people need the money, that’s the primary reason people show up at plasma centers.”

Almost half of America is broke, and 58 percent of the country is living paycheck to paycheck, with savings of less than $1000. 37 million Americans go to bed hungry, including one-sixth of New Yorkers and almost half of South Bronx residents. And over half a million sleep on the streets on any given night, with many millions more in vehicles or relying on friends or family. It is in this context that millions in the red have turned to selling blood to make ends meet. In a very real sense then, these corporations are harvesting the blood of the poor, literally sucking the life out of them....

"After briefly discussing the pros and cons of caloric restriction, human growth hormone and the diabetes drug metformin, Thiel said this:
I’m looking into parabiosis stuff ... where they [injected] the young blood into older mice and they found that had a massive rejuvenating effect. ... I think there are a lot of these things that have been strangely underexplored.
I followed up to ask if he meant parabiosis was “really interesting” as a business opportunity or a personal-health treatment. He made it clear he was talking about the latter. “That would be one where it’s more just, do we think the science works? Some of these it’s not clear there’s actually a great company to start around it. ...”
