Default Just FYI, It's Pretty Damned Hot Around Here

Between the heat and water restrictions, it's killing my yard. Such that it is. Seems to be doing the same to snowbirds, millennials and Gen-Z-ers as well.

I get to use all kinds of "old sayings" here too "If you can't stand the heat ... stay out of the kitchen. And Texas". We had a little "cool spell" past two days where it got down to highs around 98, but we're going back over 100 today. We've hit 100 more often than not since about mid-May, which is not standard issue weather.

Yes, the doom-n-gloom, end of the World climate change alarmists are wailing and gnashing teeth. Couldn't pass up an opportunity like a heat wave to claim they are right and predict the end

ERCOT has everyone prepared to dash off to the mall on a moment's notice if we lose power. Why are we losing power HERE in TX? Because some of our coal, oil and gas infrastructure required to produce electricity has been shut down. Wonder how THAT happened?

Here's some reality: if you cannot sit outside under a tree until your power comes back on in 100+ degree weather, don't come here. I don't live in Alaska for a reason. I'd be bundled up in so much crap I couldn't move while Alaskans were running around in tee shirts. If you require AC to survive, this is NOT your place to live.

The doomsayers are also predicting August will be worse. I can only assume people are going to start dropping dead if we have any real grid failure.

Here is what the models are looking like through the end of July. I am in the 115 area.

Looking at your maps/forecasts, it's hotter where you are than where I am. However, according to your first map, it's got us pegged at 100. We've been around 105 give or take more often than not. It's 102 now.

It's not as hot here temp-wise because we are at the edge of the Coastal Plain. The "feels like" is what gets us because of the humidity from the Gulf. We've been doing the "feels like 110-115" a lot of the time. The heat itself doesn't bother me. The humidity makes anyone miserable.

I prefer it to go over a hundred because it burns off most of the humidity. Then I can work out

That sucks. We did the 104. And THAT is how my day went

Daughter is having her bathroom remodeled. I get outside and work out so that I'm done by noon while it's still around 95.

Oops. Remodelers are working out of my garage where all of my tools and workout equipment is. Anyone that thinks I'm leaving the garage open all day unattended is just thinking wrong.

All my weights and bars got cleaned.

    Weapons all got cleaned.

    Tools all got cleaned.

Garage floor got cleaned really well.

    Hey, I had a fan

I tried to get a run in today early in the AM. This heat just soaks in and seems to exotherm all night and into the morning. Made about 2 miles, had to quit.

    This stinks.

Default In the upper 90's around here in Va.

My doctor knows I can't run. But if I could...
He joked about telling me to run at least 5 miles a day.

Finally got so tired and called him to tell him...

I can't really run anymore. Technically, yes. The damage to already-pounded-to-death joints isn't worth the benefit for me. I DO walk still. Have to get out early.

We get no relief. When it's 90 we get the "feels like" 105 humidity. When it's 105 we get the 105 without the "feels like". Sweat to death or burn to death -- your choice

Man I feel ya, can’t imagine how bad the 113 we hit today would be with high humidity.

So, we quit dispatching rattlers couple years ago. Now we just capture them, put in a bucket and walk them out to the saguharo park and let them go into or around a packrat nest. They're happy and were happy they're keeping rat population in check.

Today we found one and did our routine. Put in the bucket to wait until we could get dressed to walk through the desert in 110° weather. So, took about 30 min to get him out there. Opened the bucket and dumped it out at entrance to nest. Unfortunately it was already dead.

Moral of story ... it's so hot here that it doesn't take much to kill ya!
