    Interesting read from a Crusader presenting an "objective" (according to him) account of the Fourth Crusade. The Pope even excommunicated the Crusaders

    History that changed the World, nonetheless. This particular crusade began over the Great Schism and devolved into mercenary destruction of Constantinople -- the beginning of the end of the Byzantine Empire which eventually ushered in the Ottomans.

    Can't say the Fourth Crusade was much of a great idea any way you look at it. Didn't work out for the Pope, nor Western civilization.
