    Default Grocery Delivery

I admit, during Covid I pretty much shopped in store just cause. Truth is, I do not like lugging milk, cans, laundry detergent, and sports drinks up 2 flights of stairs. I'm getting old. LOL!

I've always liked Amazon for delivery, but can only get certain things through them, not fresh meat/produce.

So, I've taken to using Walmart + and Fry's special coupons to get delivery. Since I only end up tipping, I know I'm saving money by staying out of the stores. I don't mind shopping per se, it's the lugging it up the stairs.

Same here! Why we use Freshdirect, and they give us cool reusable carrying bags and drop them right in my kitchen for my lazy ass!!

I save money going to the store. Same "male" story from a different angle.

I can make a list and go to the store and get just that. If I get on the internet and start scrolling through other stuff, I end up with some of it. Plus, prices are lower in the store.

Not to mention I get to go out and see something other than this house.

That aside, I get almost everything else (besides groceries) on my phone

My wife does delivery if I'm not here to pick up for some reason. Otherwise she shops online and sends her "fj" to pick it up. With weird substitutions and not-in-stock we call it the Kroger Lottery.

I bought an upright freezer quite awhile ago, so I started ordering meat from Butcher Box and fish from Wild Alaska, recommended by our Alaskan friends. I like both, though pricey. I only order when the levels go quite low, I don't go through meat nor fish super quick, I eat a lot of meatless dishes. 5 nights I bring dinner to work, stuff I've frozen after making enough for 4-8.

Right now I have some pumpkin chipotle chili with turkey. Turkey meatloaf with squash penne. Beef sirloin teriyaki stir fry (with those wonderful 1 minute rice cups!). I've always got some individual servings of mashed potato and vegetables frozen to throw in my lunch or to round out a meal.
Each of those I have 1 or 2 or 3 servings left.

Tonight I've got pumpkin overnight oatmeal in crockpot. Tomorrow/Saturday I'm making Skinny Chicken Tetrazzini and Turkey Enchilada Casserole. One makes 6 servings and the other 8.

After that I'll be good with rotating for another 2 weeks.

So, the other week my friend sent me a 'free box' from Hello Fresh! I decided to give it a try. Ordered 2 meals for 2. Made one for myself and roommate. Really quite good, though higher in sodium than I'd usually cook, as the meat is 'restaurant quality' and seasoned. I'm really careful with the low sodium, probably more than necessary, so I've decided to keep it for time to time-can cancel any weeks you don't want. So I'll get the second box on the 20th. I figure that the roommate can join in sometimes and other days I'll just pack for lunch to follow. The quality is restaurant like-think Olive Garden though, not top tier, but costs are pretty decent too-around $10 each, as opposed to over double that in restaurant. I like going out, but doesn't have to be every week.

If anyone wants to give Hello Fresh a shot for 0 cost, shoot me a pm-I'll send you a 'free box' which really is if you cancel after receiving.
