    Populism.
I don't think anyone honestly believes Trump is or ever was a "conservative".

But funny thing is his campaign promises were generally speaking more conservative than not.
more conservative than most of is republican opponents who primarily promised more Egg but have always given unsweetened applesauce & such.
the exceptions being people like Ben Carson and Rand Paul but they werent POPULAR enough.
Many republicans who CLAIM they want small constitutionalist go'vt like yourself(?) and others didn't think they were "electable" and now complain about Trump.

But also i think maybe you & many others have a hard time separating POLICIES from PERSONS.
It's an observation I've had since high school about the majority of people's voting habits.
The "I LIKE HIM" or "I HATE HIM" factor outweighs a candidate's voting records, accomplishments, ideology and personal ethics.
The "I feel like I can have a beer with him!" or "I FEEL like he'd be a good leader." factor.

IMO It's really why Bill Clinton won, it's why Obama won... and it's why Trump won.
It wasn't so much their various or similar policies, ideologies or lack thereof, it was their presented personalities.
If you want try to convince me that that kind of thing, popularity is what's at work with Trump then i'd agree.
But scary "populism" pfffft! If today Trump said he'd seen the light, & started promoting true small gov't conservatism i suspect he'd STILL be as popular with most or MORESO.
I also suspect you still probably wouldn't like him & wouldn't vote for him.

I voted for the buffoon the second time. He is not deserving of my vote another time. I'm not saying that anybody goes out and says I'm going to vote for the populist guy. I'm saying he's a populist and not a conservative. Any conservative position or policy that came through he probably stumbled into it; conservative is not his go-to IMO.

I totally agree. He is not deserving of my vote. I'm still on fence, but tending towards voting for his policies and against the nonsense, very dangerous nonsense the left has been tossing left and right.

I'm pretty sure that whomever is truly running this out-of-control train wreck, would turn to killing if they had a tiny hope they could get away with it. Lawfare is the beginning of such, imo.

I love bacon! I eat it like a snack ... like potato chips or raw veggies. I cook a whole pound at a time and keep it in frig for when I need that one thing that can satiate the weird cravings.

It's good as a stand alone and also good wrapped around a steak or jalapeno poppers.

    Can be conservative and/or populism.

I vehemently disagree. One cannot live on bacon alone.

One can stubbornly try, but the price will be high.
