Default The Case for Keeping Enhanced Surveillance Authority...

"left" leaning (establishment) news org presents:

The Case for Keeping Enhanced Surveillance Authority
The MAGA Trump Right and the Greenwald Left want to undo Section 702, which must be renewed this year. Normies in both parties shouldn’t let them.

    https://washingtonmonthly.com/2023/0...nce-authority/

"Maga right" and "Greenwald Left" weird name calling, they should add
the ACLU left, the Ron Paul right, the Reason Magazine libertarians, the infowas conspiracy theorist, and real constitutionalist of any stripe,
And everyone else who never bought the line "We HAVE TO spy on you all ... for your safety!"

"because the constitution is not a suicide pack" still makes my head hurt.

It is proper to take alarm at the first experiment on our liberties. The freeman of America did not wait till usurped power had strengthened itself by exercise, and entangled the question in precedents. James Madison

The US Constitution IS a suicide pact. It allows its own enemies to operate freely in tearing everything it represents down.

IMO, given the irresponsible behavior of current government, or course it should not have the power to spy on US citizens under an umbrella of ambiguity disguised as law.

If government was being what government is supposed to be, and the people were being what they are supposed to be, there would be no need for all these bullshit, nitnoid, "what to do in case of an asteroid strike ..." laws.

How about: "We can spy only on bad guys"? Isn't that where this started? The mainly left but an ever-increasing number of sheeple on the right as well crying/demanding Bush do something to protect their pampered little asses? The ink wasn't dry on the paper yet before the aforementioned turned on it not because of what it was, but who signed it.

Biden has shit all over the Constitution, the Nation and its people and our Rights WAY more than this POS legislation yet where are those same whiney-assed sheep NOW?

The Feds don't need a law enabling them to spy anyway. Look at all the recent disclosures of Big Tech being in the Dem-controlled government's pocket. I wouldn't be surprised if some Fed asshole was staring back at me through my PC's camera that's supposed to be deactivated.

Those who have some major issue with that need to figure out how they're going to deal with it. No electronics works. No cell, PC. But that's not fair

    Deal with it or don't.
