Default Sen John Kennedy Grills DEA Administrator: 'Why Don't You Do That?' - fentanyl

Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) questioned DEA Administrator Anne Milgram about direct action dealing with fentanyl.

Can we say out loud yet that the US gov't has never stopped illegal drugs in the US because part of the US gov't is corrupt and gets money from the the illegal drug trade, and the big banks also get billions too.

I'm not sure if Sen. John Kennedy knows that or not.
If he does, he's putting up a good effort... or show.
If he doesn't, he better watch his back.

    That's a stretch.

This kind of non-answering should neither be allowed nor accepted. Every time I run across one of these Congressional hears it either this crap, or a Dem deflecting to character assassination of whoever.

The whole thing is a farce and phenomenal waste of tax dollars. In case no one has looked lately at the current state of the disunion, the left has no respect whatsoever for the law.

It's interesting how the "Forbes Breaking News" channel can succeed in being none of those things.

I shied away from Forbes quite some time ago. I can't really put my finger on what doesn't pass the smell test. The jaded/misleading headlines they use?

On the other hand, if one is so bored that one wishes to sit through Congressional hearings, Forbes is one of the outlets that presents them. If one chases a Forbes Breaking News headline on youtube because it is presented as a Fox News blurb, if left alone it will usually default to re-runs of months-old hearings.

Youtube (google) is really big on the "if you like this, you'll be interested in this " algorithm. From my perspective, they do their damnedest to steer you to the swill they want you to believe.

It's not the esteemed Forbes of the Forbes magazine empire. I think it's some chick who might be named Forbes; the youtube channel is uncreative and uninspiring. Two different things. But then again the original Forbes is probably not what it was either.

    Sadly that's general a fact.

Or that is it, if the Mexican President asked US Law enforcement and military to help they could end the cartels?
I think they could put a real dent in it if they wanted to.

    I can't say i disagree much here.
except to say that all sides play the "I can't recall" "what i would say senator is.." "I'll have to get back with you for that answer (never) congressman." game.

Except to say it is one way we do get some info.
often their NON-answers and lies show us what we're dealing with.
AND very often the congress folks manage to invite people to the hearings who ARE willing to talk about information they've discovered or lived.
Also some folks don't think they've done anything wrong and expose THEMSELVES.
White House Legal Counsel John Woo comes to mind. When asked if crushing a child's testicles to fight terrorism was "legal", he thought it could be.

Semi related. Does anyone know what has happened to opium business and poppy seed crops in Afghanistan after the taliban defeated Biden?

I'm not sure what's going on either.
Taliban has officially BANNED poppy growth. But some reports say the production is higher than ever.
And that "80% of opium is produced in Helmand province, the heartland of Taliban power."
While other reports talk about how the framers are being hit hard in some regions by Taliban soldiers. (unlike U.S. troops commanded to protect poppy fields)

    for example

    And just for context
