It's evident by my user name that I'm a "car guy". I always like to have one of my vehicles be a new car. In the last three years, that's been a non-starter (some of them literally). For anything vehicle related, deception has taken a quantum leap. Most advice these days is self-serving and against the customer's best interest. The most recent case in point is the pursuit of a 6-cylinder sedan with a manual transmission. Buy new? Forget about it. The only choice new is a money pit beemer. I decided to restore an older Nissan. It turns out that I had to travel from Texas to North Carolina to find someone competent to do the needed mechanical modifications. Now it's necessary to be very skilled at parts acquisition. New parts that defective out of the box are very common. Never let a mechanic choose your parts. You'll get Auto zone parts at OEM prices PLUS a mark-up. Cars from this century are just beyond my know-how to fix.
