Truly devastating. Problem is that they do not have enough firefighters-in spite of crazy high taxes. They do not have adequate water, thanks to the decisions not to dam up rivers and conserve snow melt waters. Water pressure in some areas dried up last night.
No controlled burns, too much smoke and not 'natural' enough. In IL they've done controlled burns since I was in middle school-both to keep the prairie grasses and flowers and to avoid dangerous fires to homes. CA has huge forests with untended undergrowth that is fuel once fire start.
So they have 4 tremendous fires, thanks to winds and water shortages, they pretty much have to let the fires burn.
When do the people say, "Enough!"?
