I had a friend whose aunt and uncle lived in Sedgwick Maine...right on the coast.... the Uncle's name was "Horace Means"...and he lived in a lovely old federalist home that was built by his direct ancestors in 1790 or thereaboutsand which had been in the family ever since. His mailing address was Horace Means, Means Hill, Sedgwick, Maine, He had a cast iron pot so big it could have been King Kong's army helmet. He'd load up the back of his pickup truck with forty or fifty plastic milk bottles, take them down to the deepwater dock where his local lobsterman friend was waiting with a load of lobsters. Horace would fill the milk jugs with seawater, bring them home along with the crustaceans, where the "army helmet" was sitting poised over an ENORMOUS propane burner. The cold seawater would be dumped into the "helmet" along with a dozen or more 2 lb bugs.... after they got all acclimated to their new digs, he'd turn the burner on, and some indeterminant amount of time later, we'd feast on lobsters and cold cold beer at a big outdoor picnic table overlooking Eggemoggin Reach. wicked good!

That sounds WONDERFUL! (The house and the lobster.) Shit... now I will HAVE to have lobster today...

I am actually in charge of "viral marketing" for the Maine Lobster Council. I tell enough of these Horace Means stories all over the internet and after a while it noticeably increases lobster consumption.
