When considering all the factors, the only thing that affects how rich or poor a country's citizens are is economic freedom, not natural resources. Britain, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Japan are among the lowest in the world in terms of natural resources. In fact, Hong Kong even has to import its water. However, they are among the most prosperous countries in the world. On the other hand, resource powerhouses, like the many nations of the Middle East, Africa, and South America, have their citizens living in povery, and are among the least economically free nations.
