Default NY Terror Plot On Times Square Foiled

There have been reports that ISIS was looking for an attack on NY over Thanksgiving. Yesterday a plot related to last year's truck attack in Nice, France was foiled, seems in the US too:

FBI arrests Brooklyn Uber driver who joined ISIS in hopes of planning Nice-style terror attack in Times Square BY

An Uber cab driver from Brooklyn was arrested Monday on federal charges that he allegedly traveled to Turkey and Yemen last year to join ISIS and expressed support for a Nice-style attack with a garbage truck in Times Square, authorities said.

Mohamed Rafik Naji, 37, revealed his support of the terrorist organization on his Facebook page, including a photo of an ISIS flag, videos of jihadists engaged in fighting, and a YouTube link of an ISIS spokesman exhorting attacks on Western targets, according to court papers.

Last summer, Naji allegedly expressed support to an informant for carrying out a deadly attack in Times Square with a garbage truck crushing pedestrian just like the ISIS truck attack in Nice, France in July.

"They (ISIS) want an operation in Times Square," Naji told the informant on July 19.

Interesting that yesterday I was reading a lot about the foiled attack in France, including the 'information from a foreign country that uncovered previously unknown terrorist. Today finding only this that refers to the 'help':

Seven men have been arrested including four in eastern France's Strasbourg during a raid by anti-terror police. The government says the arrests mean another terror plot has been foiled.

"The threat of terrorism has never been so high on our soil," Cazeneuve said Monday. "Zero risk cannot be guaranteed and anyone promising this is lying to the French people."

He linked the plot by the latest suspects, aged from 29 to 37, to raids carried out shortly before the Euro 2016 football championship hosted by France in June and July.

Only one of the detainees was known to security forces, a Moroccan who had been flagged by a "partner country," Cazeneuve said.

The interior minister said 418 people had been arrested for suspected links to terror networks since the start of the year.

Strasbourg has been on high alert ahead of the opening of its Christmas market, with local officials warning it could be suspended or cancelled if there were serious threats.
