Did Walmart MAGA? No.
Just a few days ago the neocon media praised Walmart as a poster child for Trump's MAGA mantra, as Walmart announced workers would get a $1,000 bonus and a raise. Well, the bait and switch has occurred, the other show hits the floor as the entire story unfolds.
First, the $1,000 bonus is for those with 20 years service, other employees will get a bonus based on seniority, with an average bonus of $190 expected. The bonus scheme amounts to about 2% of the tax cut Trump gave Walmart.
On Wednesday, 63 Sam's Clubs stores were abruptly closed, laying off 9,000 employees.
On Friday, Walmart announced it would lay off 3,500 “co-managers” and replace them with “assistant manager” positions, which has a lower salary. The laid off workers will be able to “apply” for these new jobs.
MAGA? Think again, America.
