Yesterday morning, I took out a pot roast meal that Sharon had pre-made for us and put it in the crock pot before heading out, about 6:50 am or so. 10 hours on low and it's done to perfection!

My friend Joe called me about 3pm and said there were bears everywhere. We couldn't break off from what we were doing at the time to come see, so he got an eyeful.

There was a big male, and about a mile down the road (about a quarter mile from our house that we're renting up here), there was a Mama with twins. They wanted to come in off the ice, and the Mama was trying to beeline in to right where our house is. Hmmm.

So Joe snapped a few pics :

I really didn't think much of it, but when we got to the house yesterday evening, I could smell that delicious pot roast from the driveway - and I have a terrible sense of smell. If I could smell it out in the driveway 50' from the front door, then those Polar Bears certainly could have smelled it 50 miles away.

The locals fired a few shots over their heads and shooed them away, and caused a minor traffic jam in Barrow for a couple of hours... but Sharon's cooking won't be denied by man or beast.
