Following the Watts riots in 1966, Dr. Karenga was looking for a way to unify African-Americans as a community. The name Kwanzaa is derived from the phrase “matunda ya kwanza” which means “first fruits” in Swahili. It has several phases and rituals, similar to the Jewish observance of Hanukkah. ------------> https://www.africa.upenn.edu/K-12/Kw...hat_16661.html
With that you name a holiday that celebrates a race.

And not one race presenting itself as special/superior and so much better.

Kwanzaa is about skin color and celebrating that over the other races. --Tyr
