"populism" "free market capitalism"
seem to be terms that some wall street leaning types like to throw out to cover the Crap Show of economic realities that people left & right are living.
And to diffuse any actions that would lessen the CRAP Show.

Just by tossing out the label "populism" & hoping voters/the public will run from it is a pretty nice tacit. Especially when the label has a far less settled meaning than something like "globalist" or "monopoly" or "collusion" or "market capture" or "sweatshops" or "gig work" and such

I hardly here "populism" in the news and I just googled it and see that pretty much the only one talking about it is Pence; kudos to him. So apart from Pence I'd argue nobody talks about populism and the only people tossing out "free market capitalism" are doing so in the negative. I'll argue that more free market capitalism is what we need with the caveat that there are many "free market capitalists" that are not free market capitalists.

But I'll agree tossing out buzzwords is not fixing a problem, it's attempt at demonization mostly IMHO.
