It is proper to take alarm at the first experiment on our liberties. The freeman of America did not wait till usurped power had strengthened itself by exercise, and entangled the question in precedents. James Madison

I totally agree, the 'troops' are not at that point yet. However, for me it's a total mindset against the side that doesn't agree with another point of view. With the power, the leaders are more than willing to choose the excessive choice and the media doesn't seem up in arms, yet.
I don't think I need to say that I believe the 'other side' has many willing to do the same, IF they didn't have the media and 1/2 the population against them.
We need more checks on ALL the would be dictators.

George Washington (1732-1799) First President of the USA.
Technically by law (US Code) yes. Again, dependent on classification and topic. In this case, apparently deadly force was authorized for the Trump raid. Pence and Braindead were allowed to turn their crap in. I don't recall warrants being issued in the case of the latter two.
By law, they should ALL be charged. What makes matters worse to me is selectively charging one but not the others for the same crap. Even worse, In Biden's case, he wasn't even President at the time and doesn't have even Trump's misguided "the President can ..." excuse.
As it is, what's going on is obvious, and these weaponized Dem charlatans screwing around with the law are doing so at the law's expense.

Who to believe. Spineless Garland says it ain't so
Garland calls Trump’s false FBI search claim ‘extremely dangerous’ (thehill.com)

Garland? IMO one of the worst.

No defense of Garland here but he's right.
Trump falsely claimed in a fundraising email Wednesday that President Biden was “locked & loaded and ready to take me out,” another attack about the classified records found at his estate. His email claimed Biden or the Justice Department was “authorized to shoot” Trump.Garland disputed the accusation in a press briefing Thursday.
“That allegation is false, and it is extremely dangerous,” Garland said. “The document that has been referred to in the allegation is the Justice Department standard policy, limiting the use of force.”
“As the FBI advises, it is part of the standard operations plan for searches and in fact, it was even used in the consensual search of President Biden’s home,” he continued.

I'll give that a maybe. 15 years ago I'd have been same pov as yourself. Truth is Biden's term has been basically a nightmare of an out of control Executive department. I think it may have to do with the faux president, we've no clue to who's really behind the lawfare. Who is insisting on no borders. Who took us out of Afghanistan in a way that threw commonsense and all military advice out the window.
So there is little I'd put past whomever is calling the shots.

Brings up an obvious yet obfuscated point: Want to throw a monkey wrench into the works? Demand proof of chain of custody for the documents. Dollars to donuts says those knuckleheads just handed Trump the documents.
Technically, the last person to sign for the documents should be the one to have to produce them. Point being, I don't see any concern here for law and protocol except as they have cherry picked it to suit their charges.
Obama did nothing but sell out this country, ad his successors (party) have continued his slide. I'd bet (without looking or any real specific knowledge) Obama's EO is unlawful. They're basically attacking Trump for doing exactly what they have done: what they want. Trump actually followed more laws (that we know of) than either Obama or Biden who both have just flat publicly ignored the law when it suited them to.
