Welcome aboard.
I am a former Army enlisted and am now one of the sweetest, charming, rational, intelligent, and liberal persons (when compared to Ghengis Khan) that you will ever meet.

Howdy,
I met Gadget and Mr. P on Nonviolence.org almost four years ago. It was my first real online bulletin board experience. I've been on plenty of others since then... some mostly righty like this one, some mostly lefty, quite a few combos, been a moderator on more than one, been banned from some too... all in a day's work...
I AM TheStripey1, peace tiger... now a peace tiger differs from a peace dove in that I will not hesitate to rip you a new one should I feel you deserve it... as a veteran that volunteered to serve in the war of my youth, I despise chickenhawks, but I love debating with hawks, as some of you have already found out...
As my avatar sez... I'm a recovering republican... whereas I may have voted for a democrat or two in the recent past, I AM NOT a democrat... and although I may lean left of y'all on most issues, I am NOT a liberal... I call my position... centrist...
Like most people alive today, I am a complex individual and I look forward to mixing it up with all of you...
obtw... who are the mods here?

“… the greatest detractor from high performance is fear: fear that you are not prepared, fear that you are in over your head, fear that you are not worthy, and ultimately, fear of failure. If you can eliminate that fear—not through arrogance or just wishing difficulties away, but through hard work and preparation—you will put yourself in an incredibly powerful position to take on the challenges you face" - Pete Carroll.
Your tag line is funny.

I know, this is for introductions, so introduce me to the thread where I can comment about your tag line. I am still laughing hard over those claims.
I hope you CC me with your explanation.
As to me, if being in the military is important, I served 2 years in the Army and over half that time in Germany in 3rd Div. I have had 3 kind of major careers and what seems like a dozen short term jobs.
Working in construction pays well, but I felt I had to fill in my laid off time trying jobs I did not care for but wanted a paycheck.
Looking for stability of work, plus trying to put an end to the grind of some long distance traveling plus the job was dangerous, I opened a machine shop.
I built the company up until my crew was 4-5 as a rule. I sold out by 1971 and have been in Real Estate since. Real estate as in being the broker owner of a real estate company, was also a long time appraiser who stopped that in 1997 and also operated some offices doing real estate loans.
Feel free to ask questions on any of those areas.
In construction I mostly drove piling to support concrete foundations for very large structures of many types. Bridges, huge buildings and lots of overpasses are under my belt.
My machine shop had a lot of experience with packaging machines as well as parts for oil pumps and also aerospace parts and even parts for an old style steel mill. But that is not all we did. We made radar wave guides and worked with a lot of stainless steels, some armor plate steels, built a conveyor system for a roof tile company and on and on. That ended about the time that CNC machines were just being on the market.
So far, it seems to me that this forum has potential and i am pleased thus far.
I hope to add to this forum rather than subtract.
Hey, my dad, afbombloader, just showed me this site to pull me away from /r/politics on Reddit (kind of a political circlejerk if you ask me). I'm a college business major. I'm looking for good, meaningful discussion. Don't hold it against me that afbombloader is my dad, or that trigg and nukeman are my friends.
If you are female, has Nukeman tried to set you up with his son yet?
Otherwise, welcome to the Loony Bin. My name is Gabriella and I am DP's resident tree-hugging crazy liberal. My job is to post outrageous fabrications intended to bring you over to the Dark Side.
