It's not a matter of gullibility so much as it is a genetic predisposition favoring risk-taking. Men take more and bigger risks than women, so when they DO get burned, they get burned harder.

As a side note, that's also why far more men volunteer for dangerous jobs and do dangerous things for fun, such as rock climbing and skydiving.
