Yes. I know that one is a personal statement and the other is a general statement. Obviously.
I don't see why the general statement slides on by but the personal statement gets so many people so upset.
If someone here was a member of the group that H.L. was generalizing about, they'd probably be just as insulted as the individual that Dirt was making fun of
