If the freedom of speech is taken away
then dumb and silent we may be led,
like sheep to the slaughter.

That's not the only thing that will ruin a good board. Any board you go on, there are posters who have the potential to mess it up for everyone else. It depends on the individuals.
However, if you don't ever have "new blood", a board will never grow, will become stagnant and boring.
You just have to deal with problem children as they come and move on. Those who are there for the good of the board won't constantly cause problems for other posters or for the daministrators. (Yes, I did that on purpose.)
Argue for your limitations, and sure enough, they're yours.
I don't care if new members came from another board, another country or another universe... They will abide by our written rules here. They will be a part of OUR community, not bring another community here. They won't bring trouble here, as if they do it will be handled appropriately. They won't do anything behind the scenes, as if I get word of problems happening as such I will handle that also. Until such time that ANY member does something wrong HERE, I think we should welcome our new members.
But don't see this as weakness. If I see proof of problem starters on the board, it will be "fixed". If I see that someone came here to specifically go after another member, that will be handled.
If ANYTHING transpires that is against the rules, or worse, use the report a post system, or contact a staff member of your choosing. We'll tolerate some feuding here, but not to the extent that members will be ran off the board.
“You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named "Bush", "Dick", and "Colin." Need I say more?” - Chris Rock
