I am currently praying for all East Coast DP posters. I sincerely hope you are all managing. Please stay safe in the storm.
I have been through earthquakes and other types of disasters, but the concept of a hurricane is quite foreign to me.

In the "more than a bit crazy" department, my husband has been keeping up with some investment traders who decided to remain in their offices in Lower Manhattan to monitor the markets. They now have no power and are stranded in a building with flooded lower floors.

Please continue reporting your status here on DP. My daughter even asked me "are the people on your message board OK?" She knows what is going on.

Bush had everything in place to deal with the hurricane, but how could he defend against a Flood?

Nagin sat on his butt and did not evacuate NO. Don't know why he did that given his busses were sitting parked and later got flooded.

Blanco refused to give Bush the green light so how was Bush supposed to help her state?

I heard today some punk person still blaming Bush for Katrina. I wish I was there to explain what really took place. She did it on CSPAN so what she said is of record.

If you wish to discuss how badly Bush screwed up Katrina, I wish you would do it outside the lounge. This is not a place to argue about incompetency.

I have been checking the automated line to see if my site will be open and still no updates. I called the local radio station and was told the section of town where the site is (including a Wal Mart) is without power.

It is still raining here and the wind is in the 20's

I think I will stay put for the day.

Well, you might check with them. We are having a lot of rain and some wind here this morning but not as strong as last night. I guess we need to see how soon it turns west again. We have had nothing to get alarmed about here. Of course with a storm like this it could take a day or so for the bad stuff to show up if it doesn't peter out between there and here.

About three years ago we had hurricane winds here. A left over from a storm in the gulf. We were out of power for a week. And there wasn't any warning so no time to prepare.

So far everyone seems to be safe, just without power. Hope to hear at least something from the others so we know everyone is alright. No power is an inconvenience and damage can be repaired. But I also sense a lot of people are going to be out of work for a while. Another shot to the economy.

Sorry, but it wasn't Jim who brought things to the public, that was 007. And as per our staff policy, I make the announcement of someone being removed from a thread and why, so others aren't left wondering what happened. Not a word of anything would be here to discuss if not for his actions. I simply asked him to stop. He refused. I removed his access to this thread and made it clear to others reading that he was, and why. That is board policy. I don't believe in hiding things behind the scenes in such matters. And asking someone to cease, and then removing their access when they won't, is hardly "getting all over" someone.

It's good policy. We also make removals public so others will hopefully not continue to tear at someone who can no longer respond.
