Default Army unleashes "shock and awe" on S. Jersey

    http://blog.nj.com/ledgerupdates/200...et_blamed.html

A massive wildfire that has already burned thousands of acres in the Pinelands and forced the evacuation of residents in two towns likely started this afternoon when an F-16 fighter jet dropped flares as part of a maneuver over a gunnery range, New Jersey National Guard officials said tonight.

The fire, fueled by dry conditions and gusty winds, has already consumed more than 12,000 acres, almost 19 square miles, along the border of Ocean and Burlington counties. Several highways were closed and as many as 2,000 homes in Stafford and Barnegat townships, including several retirement communities, had been evacuated.

So just exactly what the hell is your point. The flares were dropped over a "GUNNERY" range. You know one of those places the jets practice...

I personally think if the US military caused this it is very good of them to be willing to pay for any damage or loss of property.

    What exactly is your problem...

OK so the US military can pay for the loss or damage. That means WE have to pay for the loss or damage because WE pay for the military. You think there's any left after the TRILLION DOLLARS we are spending in Iraq?

You righties love spending our tax dollars doncha?

Right - But you said "We are spending trillions, and now THIS!?" (paraphrased). I'm saying the cost of fighting a war, and preparing for war is expensive. Get over it.

It was the air national guard. And gabby? It wasn't shock and awe either. It was a flare. The munitions most often used in Shock and Awe were bunker buster bombs. Their effects are quite a bit different than those of a mere flare.

However, I do consider it pretty damn bush* to have dropped those flares over a tinder dry forest. What were they thinking?

I would much prefer to pay for an honost mistake in the training of our armed forces then the waste of money spent on subidizing certain farms and a huge amount of these entitlement programs that are pushed through by the Dems so they can get a vote from the "poor man".

Just so you know we also pay for every moron out there in Cali who starts a fire and dont forget every jackass that builds in huricane areas we also subsidize thier insurance premiums so they can afford to live there.

there is a lot of waste in government but when it comes to military traaining I dont feel that is waste at all. As for them owning up to and paying for mistakes that is the price of having the greatest military in the world..
