My daughter was ever so politely requested not to return to Kindergarten by her Christian School principal after having a debate with the priest during his lunch time sermon....because she dared to have an opinion about the scripture he was reading. This also from the child who in first grade held a political awareness campaign in first grade because she felt it was" important for kids to know how our parents are voting because it is our lives they are screwing up in the end"....

    Default Sometimes religion does belong

Religion, or more properly, spiritual expression, is an important part of many people's lives. While no one religious system should be endorsed or encouraged in a public school, I am convinced that taking a more lenient view would encourage people to discuss and understand their respective beliefs. When are people supposed to learn that others don't always share their beliefs and how to cope with a challenge to those beliefs in a sane and civilized fashion? Separation of church and state should not mean elimination of religion in public life, whether that life is in your work or in your school. Specifically in this case, I would question the appropriateness of the teacher, as an authority figure, posting xian messages and so forth. but let us say that, like me, a teacher or student wears a jewelry item that has a religious symbol or carries literature for their own reading that relates to their religious system. I see no reason to be offended by such.

religion does have place in society though, i do believe there's a valued role it plays in the hearts and minds of individuals. a teacher, administrator, even a judge has a right to express their beliefs so long as it doesn't establish their beliefs over another's. prayer box hardly establishes anything, there's been prayer in schools as long as there's been tests.

I think some have definitely went too far in trying to separate church and state. Okay if a class prays and you don't want to take part, don't - just sit there respectfully for 2 minutes while others do. How does that hurt anyone?

So you understood that my message was how stupid it is to throw in the Muslim angle when you clearly didn't understand the OP and don't have the capacity to discuss it with any hint of intelligence? And then you tossed it back double indicating your agreement with my posit? OK.
