Default Visiting the Amish this weekend

I'm not sure what's on the agenda yet, just this so far:

    "Mud sales"
    http://www.padutchcountry.com/members/Mud_Sales.asp

Mud Sale is the Lancaster County term for an annual auction/sale at one of a number of local fire companies. The sales, appropriately named for the condition of the thawing ground in the spring (when they’re traditionally held), attract thousands of people looking for bargains on anything from Amish quilts and antiques to lumber, buggies and lawn equipment. This is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in Lancaster County's "Plain" (Amish and Mennonite) culture!

    Gap Annual Spring Mud Sale/Auction
5 p.m., Gap Fire Company, 802 Pequea Ave., Gap. 717-442-8100
Sporting goods, windows & doors, new & used furniture, quilts, crafts, dry goods, groceries and more.

If you've never been here before, GO here at least once for breakfast. It's buffet style, and for like $12 you can eat enough for 30 and the food is awesome!

I live about 40 minutes from Lancaster. I used to go to the Green Dragon and Rennigers every weekend as a kid. Haven't been lately though. I also fondly remember Zinns Diner in Denver, sadly no more.

    I went here: http://www.dienners.com/

About 10% of the clientele is Amish. The manager referred me to a deacon that lives nearby. The deacon asked some questions about my beliefs and said if I follow along with the same verses in my own Bible, I could benefit from the worship Sunday morning at 8 AM. He reminded that the worship is conducted in German. Apparently it is an accomplishment to get cleared to attend a worship.

I forgot about Green Dragon, which also used to be a must visit when we went to the Amish Land. Same as Good and Plenty and Yoders, and I think Millers too. Anywhere there was good food we would be found. And the markets are awesome. I always wanted a good hand made quilt, but even the Amish want a lot of dough for those suckers!
