Default Wasn't this on The Onion

Actually, yes, it was. The RIAA is going after radio stations for not paying enough fees to play songs.

    I especially like this line.

God forbid she actually plan for retirement or work for a living like EVERYONE ELSE! I hate Diana Ross with the fire of a thousand suns.

And here's the original satirical article from The Onion.

The similarity is eerie, isn't it?

They're already getting a subsidy on ALL BLANK MEDIA SOLD (Home Audio Recording Act, look it up)! This bullcrap needs to stop.

For the record, the original copyright laws in this country required registration of copyright and the right only applied for 14 years plus another 14 year renewal if the artist requested it before entering the public domain. Under current copyright law, personal copyrights last for 70 years...after the death of the original creator (meaning "The Time Machine" and "The War of the Worlds" are still copywritten works for another 9 years and "The Lord of the Rings" won't be public domain until 2043) and corporate copyrights last for 95 years, up from 75 in 1997 (a result of Disney and WB lobbying to maintain their copyrights on Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny, both of which would have entered the public domain in 1998).

They just addressed the Nevada State Senate about bands that were impersonating them claiming to be linked to the original groups.

I didn't know this. I shouldn't be surprised, I guess, but it's very funny that the same organization that is so anti-music sharing has got to be making a shitload of money off of blank media.
