    LOL.

I should start drinking more coffee without my standard creamer and Splenda.

For a present over a year ago, I bought my wife an electric coffee grinder and introduced her to fresh ground coffee. We don't drink it all the time, but it sure tastes great when we do. We usually drink Folgers but also have a couple bags of higher priced coffee on hand, usually Starbucks, Gevalia and Dunkin Donuts.

I buy dark roast oily beans from the whole foods store and use a hand grinder, nothing added to the coffee.

I have a collection of those myself. The bad news is mice will eat into them in my workshop. I still have some old metal ones, but many coffee suppliers are switching to a cardboard-sided can with a metal bottom and a plastic top.

I use the Keurig coffee maker ( K-cup ) it makes one fresh and hot cup of coffee at a time. The way I understand it the coffee is groung and then put into a sealed container that is perfect for that one cup, and being as it is immediately packaged it is as good as just grinding it yourself. I love this machine and wouldn't give it up for anything.

I'm not same person until first couple cups in morning. After 1 or 2 pots I'm ready to roll.

-- Reminds me. My Nespresso machine gave up the ghost recently ... I've been using Nescafe Instant ever since (sometimes going for the Alta Rica brand, or Blend 37).

This is one subject where UK-US differences play a part. I've seen Folgers coffee when visiting the US (which I've not done for quite a number of years). But it isn't sold in the UK, never has been, so far as I know, and not many Brits will have heard of it.

Here, we have ... Nescafe, Lavazza, we DID have Maxwell House, but I've not seen it in a while .. Kenco, Douwe Egbert ... and a whole host of 'own brands' sold by supermarkets such as Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl ....

Me .. if I'm going to go for ground coffee, it'd be a strong Espresso (industrial-strength coffee .. there are times when there's NO substitute - Old Brown Java is delicious) .. or, at a pinch, Kenya Peaberry.

Nothing beats the real thing my friend! And gifting pleasure to the one you love -(other than yourself - )-is a must in my book.
