Louisville is technically inside of Kentucky, but the state belongs to the University of Kentucky. Even inside Louisville itself, the city is split between UL fans and UK fans. Outside Louisville, solid UK fans. Those of us who live outside Louisville consider it a bastard child kind of place, as in not really Kentucky.
Today UK beat Louisville 75-73 and yes we were there. At the end of the game, the UL coach, Rick Pitino, gave the UK crowd the middle finger. He is classy that way. He then apparently refused to answer questions after the game. He is probably aware that this might be the last time he will ever coach the Louisville Cardinals against the Kentucky Wildcats. Pitino's Louisville team is being investigated for providing low-class prostitutes to its recruits.
I think every state has a place like that. We even have a country song that goes like We're not from Dallas, we're from Texas.
