Where Green Forests Wrap Desirous Land

A cross the midnight divide in a shroud,
this soul sails upon glistening gold wings.
There with vanity, what pride allowed,
my seeking heart wanders and sings.

Beneath snow covered summit my joy shouts
where green forests wrap the desirous land.
To find me, hire the greatest Native scouts
for I move with the animal band.

Along the nearest flowing river's banks
each morn I rise giving eternal praise.
There, I give my Native American thanks,
in escape from dark cities wretched haze!

Across that deep divide my spirit dwells,
no longer enduring man's living hells.

    Robert J. Lindley, 3-13-2016

Sonnet, for a single contest as I no longer try to do the many contests.
I now avoid the contest sponsors that are using a personal, preset, favoritism list to place the top ten places.

Where Green Forests Wrap Desirous Land

Across the midnight divide in a shroud,
this soul sails upon glistening gold wings.
There with vanity and what pride allowed,
my seeking heart wanders along and sings.

Beneath snow covered summit my joy shouts
where green forests wrap the desirous land.
To find me, hire the greatest Native scouts
for I move on with the animal band.

Near to the sweetest flowing river's banks
each morn I rise to give eternal praise.
Give this, my Native American thanks,
escaped I, from dark cities wretched haze!

Deep in that huge divide my spirit dwells,
no longer enduring man's living hells.

Evil Speaks In Dark Voices To Gift Fear

I heard a cry that bellowed, run away
"For here your life will be badly broken".
Longing for greater adventure that day
I thought an unknown road best be taken.

Yet once there that voice cried loud out again.
" You must not tarry, this land is cursed".
Thinking the worst if I dare to remain,
I raced back into that hell in reverse!

Yet again, that same loud darker voice cried,
" Leave now or else here you will surely die".
I realized now that voice always lied,
returned I home, to yet again retry.

Evil speaks in dark voices to gift fear.
Always best to question such and steer clear.

By This Hope My Spirit Often Measures

Pain and sorrow I need never borrow,
for Fate too often looks darkly my way.
I live today, knowing worse tomorrow,
may find me enduring a dreaded day.

Sun may rise but my lot crashes deeper,
as calamity grabs at my hurt soul.
If worse, I just may become a weeper,
and blackness reap its darkest, scary toll.

Pain and sorrow, I need no such bad friends.
This life may yet bring me far more treasures,
with sweet fruitful years before it dare ends.
By this hope, my spirit often measures!

Sun may rise, granting me sunshine so sweet,
my heart sings out in joy, not in defeat!

Note: Back half of our home flooded Friday, from ten inches of rain in less that a day.
Four days of ripping out , cleaning and now drying.
    No use in crying.
So I write a sonnet to mark this day and a better future that my life may find.-Tyr

Each Day's Travels Just An Echo Of Time

New dawn and I read that great epic book,
Simple verses of life and its clear tolls.
Reading one can clearly see what it took,
Faith, understanding and setting firm goals.

Seeking anew, a better life sublime,
Listening to words written by a sage.
Each day's travels just an echo of time,
Finding wisdom to live in this black age!

Walking along a bad path, life's dark share,
Hides a quiet spot that soothes man's sad soul.
If found, it gifts so much and life seems fair,
Sailing forth, life's ship on a gentle roll.

Even in deep waves of wild, stormy seas,
One stands tall, not fallen on bended knees!

    Hobo Walking Past Our House

He looked like man walking with rocks in his shoes,
a bit edgy, with shadows flitting about.
Dark clouds about him, sending the lonesome blues,
smiling alligator with a toothless snout.

Stopping to look back, time waving its hello's,
    angry at not having what he left behind;
an old man, one of those queer little fellows
with nothing about him speaking as refined.

A frown formed upon his dark, withering face,
as his ragged, torn hat hung on him quite low.
Started again, he walked at a limp pace,
leaving questions, answers nobody can know.

Disappearing from our sight, one of his goals.
Like an ancient furnace, with no burning coals.

O' The Deep Wisdom That Man Fails To Seek

Dark world's scar, sad clown in dancing despair,
Lively in sewers of forbidden thought,
Gambling in darkness for a wasted share,
Content with errors so easily bought.

What of the world's sweeter admirations?
Or family's great clear and glowing praise?
Shall one thus live for selfish sensations,
With no need for truth that spirit will raise?

Yet life may still gift other shining gold,
As one walks its great mysterious paths.
In adventure one must be bravely bold,
without fear of Fate's many fickle wraths!

O' the deep wisdom that man fails to seek.
Such loves and treasures, he gets not a peek.

How Fine Life Is To Man, When His Crops Are All Green

Yesteryear, I saw grapes hanging heavy on the vines
Such bounty was not all, bright where the windy pines.
Green the grass grew, great fodder for all of mankind,
How I wish I knew, that righteous path to again find.

Beyond that past scene, rests solace in future hope
Life soft and less mean, no bad seen in my horoscope.
Another Spring giving joy, gentle winds in my sail,
Happiness for my little boy, treasures he can retell.

With that thought, I can find another gentle peace!

Today my heart raced on again, into its new scene.
How fine life is to man, when his crops are all green.
Music reaches into his heart, dancing into his soul.
He rises in joy's restart, entering his blessed new role.

With that thought, I can find another sweet release!

What Nature Gives Us Each Day

What Nature gives us each day
    Beauty wrapped in glowing green
    Not joy simply tossed away
Duty ours, to love each scene
Those tree shadows at high noon
    Resting under such wide shade
    Rose loving effect found soon
    Blessings are thus Nature made
What spirit can not there find
Night and its stars do bequeath
Got the heart and gentle mind
    Right here,living underneath

What life can with eyes thus find
    Scenes gifting beauty in kind

Were It So, Great Mysteries We'd Surely Miss

Life flows through this world on a spree
Like some massive beast on a ripping romp
Good times and bad times, it so often sees
Even ending as the might of Fate does stomp!

Across land and seas, fruitful crops grow
Majestic beauty Nature sends its greens
Our world forever onward it goes and goes
We are not truly in charge by any means!

When wind, storm and rain beats our souls
Hope rests and rides in the world to give
Although we may cry at such saddened tolls
We manage to carry on and happily live!

Our distant trek may not be all pure bliss
Were it so, great mysteries we'd surely miss!

Beasts, That Plunder For Profit And Sport

Men are beasts of water, earth and the soils
prone to war just to gather the rich spoils.
Dark, greedy for charms of opposite sex
hungry in appetite like a T-Rex.

Not realizing that which they so crave
can never be taken past coming grave.
Failure in flesh and bone, are doomed to rot
ever longing for that which they have not!

Stop, think and think well of the life you live
take less, seek more to generously give.
Can not take with you , even if you try
be blessed, give kindly before you die.

Man-beasts of water, earth and denials,
dark walkers that light of truth so reviles.

My Heart Shall Not Fade In Crying Red Rust

I shall beat down the walls of your dungeon
And smash its power into fading dust.
My spirit by you will not be bludgeoned,
My heart shall not fade in crying red rust!

Once, I saw such goodness in your sweet soul.
Those years have all vanished into the dark,
Where raging waters drown love in its roll
Madness of your hate shows to be so stark!

I still long for that soft gentle touch
With the press of those sexy luscious lips.
This heart cries deep, in loving you so much
Despite cut of claws on your fingertips!

I can never change pains of fate and time.
Yet I cry my loss in poetic rhyme!

the original intact in my private writes, for my children to read
only after I depart this existence.----- -Tyr

Some Of Them Even Came With Wicked Scars

As I count my blessings among bright stars
hope and love echo to me like loud blasts.
Gave up wild life, living in the bars,
were nothing thats good or bad ever lasts!

Sad morns waking, a stranger in my bed
nights enjoyed, now shallow memories gone.
Could I have walked better path instead,
been enticed to have walked all alone?

My mind wanders back to wild days of youth,
days and nights of sweet pleasure then unbound.
Can we ever know if lost time is truth
or mystery sent to our lives confound?

As I count my blessings among bright stars
Some of them even came from wicked scars!

Your Face Glowed Like Brightest Of Rose Flowers

In that past life you were the only one,
sweetest filling in my first apple pie.
Now time cries out loud, we are both undone
our broken tears fall like rains from the sky.

Weep not fair maiden, life gives and it takes,
for its shadows have sad echoes ringing.
Mourn ye not so, for dearest heaven's sakes,
tomorrow life will gift dances and singing.

Midnight, you swore eternity was ours,
yet Fate that wretched beast has final say.
Your face glowed like brightest of rose flowers
Rejoice in those treasures, we had our day!

In hidden paths, we may yet meet again.
Not as star-crossed lovers but as lost friends!

Nature And The White Speckled Fawn

White speckled fawn lying in the dense reeds,
Nature takes greatest care of its own best.
Unlike man and his vicious wicked deeds,
Nature holds life with results not requests.

Baby hummingbird, so fragile and small,
hidden in a well made and clever nest.
Speed and beauty in flight as I recall
so unlike the flies that this earth infest.

Cute pups, barking for much more mother's milk
spotted light red, white and darkest of browns.
So lovely, soft like the best flowing silk,
bringing sweet happy smiles, never sad frowns.

Nature shares with us all, giving each birth.
Yet humans often overlook their true worth!

Now The Hungry Lion Roars For Release

Darkness, the wicked devil so well uses
Farewell to the muse, she went on vacation
She walks in beauty, yet her love abuses
So we'll go no more a-roving, in elation

    The destruction of Sennacherib, gone
Thou whose spell can raise the dead,
Thy days are done, bleached as whitest bone
When we two parted, I lost my damn head

Where the bee sucks, time renews in sweet birth
Who is it that says most, which can say more
Poor soul, the centre of my sinful earth
Like as the waves make towards the pebbl'd shor

From fairest creatures we desire increase,
Now the hungry lion roars for release!

Lord Byron wrote the following poems, The titles almost read like a poem:
(And I dont think his muse was Sennacherib )

    Darkness,

    Farewell to the muse

    She walks in beauty,

So we'll go no more a-roving,

    The destruction of Sennacherib,

Thou whose spell can raise the dead,

    Thy days are done,

    When we two parted
