Farm Chores, They Sure Aren't A Glowing Parade
Brutal cold cuts into young tender skin,
winter arrives with its hard cold and more.
No time to complain- NOT IF we are men,
farm child, time to wake, do the daily chores!
Up before the sun makes it first day's peep
into savage cold, hard cold, to morn's work.
Cutting blasts, such bitter cold one could weep,
we had best get it done, no time to shirk.
Chills eat into hungry brain this day,
no breakfast, working until cold-sun fades.
Why gripe, matters not whatever I say,
farm chores, they sure aren't a glowing parade!
Brutal cold cuts young tender skin this morn.
Such pain, methinks better not to be born!

I Recall Mockingbirds Singing To Me
My life now so far away in the past
resting back in that glowing red sunset;
in lost memories where dreams always last
wishing for lost time, I can never get.
As fading shadows dance in bonfire's glow
I recall mockingbirds singing to me;
precious gifts such memory plants to sow
so like seeds dropping from big red-oak tree.
My eyes filled with falling tears, my soul sees
far beyond, well past my mind's window sills;
Green forests in my life with their lost trees
resting back there, lasting memory hills.
As my life now sends me yearning anew,
images parading forth, treasures so true!

I Force My Drink, Dark Poison To Swallow
Chastise me in my deep, darkest sorrow,
young lad of hopes and meandering streams.
I long for relief now not tomorrow,
or next year in lost fields of shallow dreams.
My goblet of pain it over floweth,
into forests of low hanging black fruits.
There I rage in my hurt, ill wind bloweth,
on this soul with misery in its roots.
I force my drink, dark poison to swallow,
cherished within eye of this bitter storm.
Life in tatters, this spirit now hollow,
darkness and wicked cuts the daily norm.
Leave me alone, in this coal black quagmire.
Lost am I, in hell's burning fire.

With Calm Repose I Ponder Earth And Sky
There in hidden den of sweet solitude,
With calm repose I ponder earth and sky.
Depths of human weakness- my attitude,
those fleeting wisps of racing Time flown by.
I hold this, my sweet spot as my haven,
wooded seas and imagined paradise.
Serenity found, tis' not stone graven
yet Nature's wonders give greater advice.
All about, wicked world mixed as it turned
changing people into sad, selfish beasts.
Greed, people cry out for more than is earned
as darkness eats its many rotten feasts.
Brutal naked truth can, if its found yield,
happiness is- an unplowed, fertile field.

If A Poet, I Found I Could Never Be
If a poet, found myself not to be,
would vivid colors lose their awesome splash.
Could life race ever on and live for me
or my soul die, rhymes in my head then crash?
If invading words I never dared loose,
stayed hidden within this lonesome, old cave.
Would I find world's mysteries more abstruse,
spirit thus devoid of writing I crave?
If words no longer soothed this needing soul,
could depths of love in verse for me exist.
If my life were lived as an empty scroll
shall it fade as Autumn morn's foggy mist?
If a true poet, could I never be,
this sad heart would be a dead and dried sea.

You My Son Shall Venture Forth Without Fear
You my son shall wander into vast halls,
sit by craggy rocks upon mountain peak.
Hear the wisdom in Nature's sweetest calls,
wade in deeper where rushing waters speak.
Listen to night owls as they softly hoot,
see the slow sinking moon sparkle anew.
Walk soundly, learning to ride, rope and shoot,
sail daringly upon great oceans blue.
You my son shall venture forth without fear,
face the darkest storm and its mighty blast.
Hold out against great pain without a tear,
catch fish on each and every thoughtful cast.
Yes, you my son, shall do better than I.
This my last prayer asks before I die.

I Am Mortal Man, Made Of Mere Flesh And Bone
Sad and lost soul walked in his old worn shoes,
dark clouds covered his bowed and forlorn head.
Life had beat him hard, made him pay heavy dues,
cast jagged stones into his every night's bed.
He looking back at all his dear family now gone,
his broken soul cried- God release me please.
I am mortal man, made of mere flesh and bone,
my every path hard, nothing comes with gentle ease
Yet the spirit was strong and his heart held dreams,
hope that another day would great blessings bring.
Each night's prayer he found new flowing streams,
such that morn's new light made his joy sing
As each day brought its bricks and falling stones,
Hope, his greatest shield, prevented any broken bones.

With Hot Flames Lapping In Savory Fires
Our worlds were flying so close, side by side
yours in beauty , mine in very deep pain.
Fate, that life painter, caused our great collide
we victims, blessed in our loving gain.
Stars fell apart , crashing of burning sun,
super nova lit our swelling desires.
Our long sweet ride that moment had begun,
hot flames lapping in savory fires.
Your eyes drew me into another dream
your voice angels begged to imitate
Each touch, my body burning hot steam
nights our senses entered another state.
As time sealed our union in sweetest bliss
memories thus born, gave our love its shine
Your all , put into every blessed kiss
And you dear heart forever to be mine.
Each morn, sends me into another dream,
the sight of your naked body in bed.
Always enough to swim there in your stream,
paradise floating in my grateful head.

Black Death Among The Shadows Does Gaily Roam
Black death among the shadows did roam
deep in solitude its power reigns.
Nowhere and everywhere it calls sweet home
and always its appearance brings pains.
Through fords, over mountains into gentle seas
fate sends its messenger in a black shroud.
Never to be stopped by the many crying pleas
or women moaning and wailing out loud.
Its only victorious foe, the light of eternal life
where our Redeemer's truth and divine love grows.
Delivering us from depths of misery and strife,
brought by suffering from fear of death's throes.
Black death among the shadows does gaily roam
Yet tis forever forbidden in God's sweet home.

As I, Their Weak And Soft Human Flesh, Sat To Eat
I have seen stars blown to dust, red moons rising steep
lives taken by the billions where death is a must.
Candles burnt out , before their red moon falls to sleep,
great empires destroyed, their monuments turned to rust.
I have walked blood-soaked alleys with neck bone in hand
bleached white bones crushing under my stomping feet.
Seen millions die making futile heroic last stands
as I, their soft and weak human flesh, sat to eat.
My name is Power- greed , pride, lust are my black game,
cherishing each hour my evil desires are met.
Men have called me many great and dastardly names
paid that heavy price as death wins my every bet.
So few can resist my alluring and dark charms
As my temptations brings lost souls into my arms.

Old Note- From my private journal 7-25-1977...
Wrote a dark one tonight as bad blood races through my veins
wicked the fleeting midnight hour and its agonizing flow.
In my mind, deep hatred calls for dark and bloody stains'
never will she the dark demon, this my mad urge ever know..
New Note--
A very bad time in my young life (age 23 years old, 4 months and 20 days), whiskey seemed to put me in a rare mood.
That is the night that in my dark rage I emptied a 45 cal revolver into the tv in my bedroom.
I can tell you , doing such will near burst your eardrums..
I lived alone at that time and every slug was money well spent as the next day I saw the world in a whole new light.
Went right out and found me another girl, one not so crazy and into drugs...
She lasted over 8 months..we even parted on good terms..-Tyr

In Prisons Brimming With Their Tears And Lost Gold
Where does man heal his tired soul when old,
in black castles brimming with sad tears and gold?
Along rivers that ooze of his stinging dark pains,
imprisoned in shades of his misery and stains.
Lord knows we made our foul and blackened beds
filled ém with savage cuts in our hard heads!
While we danced with world's greatest deceivers
in our shallow joys, begged we to be receivers!
Now our wicked souls cry for that sweet kindness
rare gems we cheerfully tossed away in our blindness.
O' how we now beg to be given greater goals
such that will never again tarnish our weeping souls.
Where do bad men redeem broken spirits when old
in prisons brimming with their tears and lost gold?

Seas Of Black Winds, Blast Walls Of Solid Stone
Fighting against waves, where night's bright moon shines
In thought, a much needed stitch often saves,
future life like seeded cones on green pines.
Sealing doors, when escape demands harsh pays
In their bravest deeds, heroes do much more
than any that in their shame falsely prays.
Deep dark nights, echoes ring chimes very clear
With eternal hope, faith gifts saving lights
loves united, dreams sent forth without fear.
Dawn's bursting gaze, when black night terrors flee
Happiness cuts deeply retreating haze,
as new life and great joy cries let it be.
Seas of black winds, blast walls of solid stone
Little help, in being bad to the bone.

Plow Your Fields, With Love Of Nature In Mind
In darkness seek light, in pain seek relief
when weak seek might, strength lies in true belief.
When harvesting crops, thank the fertile ground
if you are faithful, let your trumpet sound.
Plow your fields, with love of Nature in mind
with love embrace all, forever be kind.
Cut deeply fertile soil, look for hope there
reject easy life, therein lies a snare.
Wisdom comes, to he that prays and then waits
bad the counsels, to tempt the darkest Fates.
Birds gaily feast on worms deep plows bring forth
coldest are winds blasting us from the North.
River never sleeps in its winding bed
Greedy men, choosing not to give instead.

Where Yellow Moonlight Graced Her Pretty Face
When young, so damn foolish in my great pride
I rode the wind, felt like a mighty king
Looking back, find nothing I want to hide
do most of it again, complete the ring.
Days and nights flowing in sweet river songs
where yellow moonlight graced her pretty face
For such times, my soul now so deeply longs
without sad heartache, I want to erase.
Lost times, those nights disappeared into dark
sadness flows in, reminds me of my past
I was once, a vicious beast, hungry shark
the good times flew away far, far too fast.
When young, so damn foolish in my great pride
My darkness did things I can not abide!
