    Default Vietnam

Anyone else watching Ken Burns' series on Vietnam? Well done so far, imo.

I've watched some of it, but... my older brother came back from two tours in Nam all kinds of messed up, mentally, and took his own life back in '86, just 20 days after his 33 birthday... so Nam isn't my favorite subject.

Tried to watch it...made it for about 20 mins and had to quit. Talk about flashbacks!!!
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

It's on PBS. I'm watching the first two episodes On Demand (we have Comcast).

The history behind the French, Chinese, and eventually our involvement is what's covered in the 1st episode. It's very good to understand all that.

Just watched Part 4. So many instances where the narrator said something akin to, "We were unaware they (Nort Vietnamese troops) were there". Or, "We didn't know there were so many there". Damn. I cried several times at the loss of our precious young men.

Same kind of people now trying to destroy our nation's might, are the same kind of people that back then, did everything they could to insure we lost that war. What is worse is that now they are even more determined to destroy this nation and remake it into that liberal/socialist imagined utopia..
We should have never been there if we were not going to fight it--ALL OUT TO WIN FROM THE START---......
CERTAIN POLITICAL ENTITIES MADE SURE WERE WERE NOT THERE TO WIN.
WE HAD THE MILITARY POWER TO WIN IT IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS TIME OR EVEN LESS, INSTEAD WE WASTED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF AMERICAN LIVES, BY LETTING CERTAIN ELEMENTS IN THIS NATION AND OUR MEDIA INSURE THAT WE DID NOT WIN, IMHO.-Tyr
