Not this kid. Too much to chance ob recruiting duty. In the Marines, a "B" billet (recruiter/drill instructor or Marine Security Guard duty is almost a must for promotion, and even if not, it's a one-up on everyone else for it.

I made a preemptive strike and went on drill instructor duty. Too many horror stories in recruiting duty. If an applicant decides it ain't going, they will make up all kinds of shit and YOU have to prove you DIDN'T do it.

On drill instructor duty there are always lots of witnesses.

Hmmm... well, they came around the AMU at Nellis AFB and asked if anyone wanted to be a recruiter but I was too short, I'd have had to either extend or reenlist. I should have. I reenlisted later anyway. Regardless of the perils, I think I'd have liked it... for awhile. Working on the jets on the flight line could be pretty brutal too.
