A guy I worked with in the Cape May NJ gym was the first one on the East Coast to
have a 44 roll over. That was in the Atlantic City Inlet.
He said they were taught that the boat would re-right itself in 30 seconds. They were
strapped in when a huge wave hit them broadside. Glenn said he was counting up -
'one thousand 58...one thousand 59' when it finally righted itself. They found that the
mast had got stuck in the seafloor of the inlet.
The CG changed the mast construction after that to make it able to break off, and re-right
correctly!
