I personally couldn't deal with someone else telling me what I can and can not do on my property. So I live in the country, where a man can walk out his front door and take a piss if he wants.
HOAs change rules depending on which way the wind blows. OR they have that "at the discretion of the HOA" line in it for just about everything and definitely aesthetics.
I don't have a problem with reasonable ones with reasonable rules. I DO have a problem when a HOA getting paid in US coin to do nothing much I ever see but collect fees, that tells an American homeowner in the United States they cannot fly the US flag. Not like it's a pot leaf. Which they'd probably be ok with.
