Always Together, In The Great Bye And Bye

In your arms, I once so prayed myself to die
always together, in the great bye and bye
now fate and time, our sweetest dreams delay
I live in despair, as dark has its way
Yet once in your angelic arms, love gave
with infinite grace, this poor soul did save.

In your arms, I once so prayed myself to die.
Always together, in the great bye and bye.

In you arms, O'lord may I soon again be
wrapped with heavy passionate chains, blessing me
with nights of your kisses, your dearest gifts
our lives planned, as paradise so uplifts
Yet this dream, heart set by a solemn vow
is memory, torn from the here and now.

In your arms, I once so prayed myself to die.
Always together, in the great bye and bye.

    Note;
Rewritten from a poem that was lost back in 1976...
Actually it was burned back then. This version tho'
not exact is as close to the original as my old age
and my ailing memory, can now manage to recreate,
changes made are minor. It is one of the few poems
from 40+ years ago that I have a much greater memory
of the verses and the reason it was composed in the
    first place.. RJL

    LITERATURE
A Short Analysis of Edmund Spenser’s Amoretti LXXV: ‘One day I wrote her name upon the strand’
Edmund Spenser’s Amoretti is one of the greatest of the Elizabethan sonnet sequences; after Sir Philip Sidney’s Astrophil and Stella (which was the first great sonnet sequence in English), it is perhaps the greatest of all. Sonnet LXXV from Amoretti, beginning ‘One day I wrote her name upon the strand’, is probably the most famous poem in the cycle, and deserves closer analysis for its innovative use of a popular conceit.

    Amoretti LXXV
    by Edmund Spenser

One day I wrote her name upon the strand,
But came the waves and washed it away:
Again I wrote it with a second hand,
But came the tide, and made my pains his prey.
‘Vain man,’ said she, ‘that dost in vain assay,
    A mortal thing so to immortalize;
For I myself shall like to this decay,
And eke my name be wiped out likewise.’
‘Not so,’ (quod I); ‘let baser things devise
To die in dust, but you shall live by fame:
My verse your vertues rare shall eternize,
And in the heavens write your glorious name:
Where whenas death shall all the world subdue,
Our love shall live, and later life renew.’

‘One day I wrote her name upon the strand’ addresses one of the key themes of the Elizabethan sonnet sequence: the struggle of the poet to immortalise his beloved, the woman his sonnets are written in praise of. In summary, Spenser tells us that he wrote his beloved’s name on the beach one day, but the waves came in and washed the name away. He wrote his beloved’s name out a second time, but again the tide came in and obliterated it, as if deliberately targeting the poet’s efforts (‘pains’) with its destructive waves.
From my blog on, Amoretti LXXV, by Edmund Spenser
    my tribute poem included below,
    ************************************************** **
Sailing Away From Dark That Wrecks Havoc On Earth

Earth left cursing in raging anger and sad roars
horrid spinning mess, its great darkness raining fear
vast teeming multitudes, with evil shore to shore
lies, wicked beasts, future never really clear.
These new waters, horizon now promising love
her beautiful kiss, those lips waiting just for me
Heaven sending guiding angels down from above
singing of light, truth and a divine sanctity.

My soul, its core now filled with a king's treasure worth
of romance and flowery meadows gifting life
sailing away from dark that wrecks havoc on earth
my ship, cutting through sleeping waters like a knife.
Sailing away upon Heaven's soft, tender sea
ranging across waters with her windblown caress
repentant and dwelling within bountiful glee
a sinner, long ago my sins I did confess.

Sailing into expanse of waiting paradise
her big bright smile gifting an ocean of delight,
never again begging more, this love shall suffice
with passionate gems gifted each and every night.

Pray I, eternity weds our Lives, Love and All
And we together, sail to our true Port of Call.

    Within Oceans Of Passion's Might

I that loved, true, hard and so deep
in world that powers sadly shoved,
    pains to keep,
found romantic wealth, heart's dear song,
    joy that leaps.

    Within oceans of passion's might
    strolling along as Nature's glow,
    gem laid sights,
as beauty, its great music plays,
    cresting lights.

Love's depths, exalted nights of bliss
of sun's golden rays, skies soft blue
    truth be this,
    her most beautiful face giving,
    lips to kiss.

I that loved you so, with my all.
    Your love, forever I recall.

    Illuminations, Temptations, Life's Travails Endured

Weep for Truth that man's inherent evil betrayed
    Zeus hurled lightning bolts, paradise dreams delayed;
Intriguing words, those tales of mythological beasts
Sirens tempt, alluring songs, dark orgasmic feasts:
Man that so blindly eats, stirring to walk upright,
Consuming illusions of life's selfish delights:
No more than mere cannibals of impish degrees
Born of midnight madness and seed from dying trees.

Man in darkened lusts seeking illicit spoils
Raping with greed, as seas of sewage churns and boils
Flying through phantasms of barbaric hate
Rising as a charred Phoenix of dooming Fate
Unto dawn's fiery breath, its unfulfilled dreams
While harbinger of death, drowns with malignant streams
Gasping from a multitude of overwhelming lust
Avoiding light, truth of one day turning back to dust.

From the beginnings of aspirations and greed
First wailing cry, signifying an evil seed
Crawling as a mere babe down in well trodden dirt
Yet unacquainted, to life's many flesh-born hurts
Weak, ever needful under mother's tender cloak
Destined to serve, slave under temptation's yoke
Taught to seek, what sensual pleasures thus abound
Ecstasy's whispers, allures that truly astound.

Born of flesh, a searing flame too oft set to rage
Whether a pauper or prince, each coming of age
Reaching that mature stage when new blacken chart sets
Course of life, and all, whatever future begets
Letting dark to sully and run its wicked course
Rampaging, destroying, without fear or remorse
A Caesar in power, born of demonic ways
God of deceit, creator of a dancing malaise.

Standing aloft, contemptuous of good and light
Evolving monster, lurking into darker nights
Beset by arrogance, stand of a know it all
An Achilles well before his sad fated fall
Ignorant of Time, ill winds of eternal wrath
Prancing, before a tumble from a crumbling path
Left behind as humanity's cycles repeat
Death touched, final blow, mankind's greatest defeat.

Cast into oblivion, reduced to bleached bones
Memory, marked by a plot, one white headstone
Perhaps some tears that time too will one day erase
Fruit of iniquity, sad harvests, a disgrace
Ending, befit for one that embraced the dark
Reduced to dust and sorrows, a stained mark
Alas! To in error, such futile life so choose
Playing with a marked deck, destined to lose!

Under Soft Moonlit Skies, Lonely Howls Heard

Within wolfen heart, her hellish hunger arose,
ultimate power to destroy as yet unknown-
she lit her candle and caressed a red rose
crying in the light, far away her dreams had blown,
yet mercy and future shed a torrent of tears-
as streams formed, away melted life's darkest fears.

Watching as golden moon, its beauty displayed,
shadow winds sent mesmerizing whispers of love-
anticipation gnawed, love's kiss been delayed
for a jealous God, had cursed her from above,
looking skyward she in despair showed her fangs
as her sanity, by a single thread thus hangs.

Silence came, its music her racing heart then felt
as the new trees danced and sleeping rocks awoke-
he appeared to gift a kiss and her grave doubts melt
in that infinite ecstasy neither one spoke,
then she of wolfen heart and he of wolfen blood-
were washed away in Nature's romantic flood.

    My Tribute poem

    With Promise Of Entry, Elysium

Childhood, seeing from afar, candle burning bright
with courage, imagination seeing life through
always and forever the promise, heard each night-
walk a brave path, receive entry, as is your due,
heaven searching, whispers of two stars gazing back
honor true, never shall a God's power you lack.

    Elysium- open gates, paradise awaits.
on battlefields- glory, set by "Hands of the Fates".

Ajax, blessed child and great warrior born to be
father- war god, mother a nymph of the blue seas
as a child roaming forests, with sword and long spear
a hero born and one totally without fear,
star gazing- seeing death would come, Elysian fields
his destiny, gifting all of its golden yields.

    Elysium- open gates, paradise awaits.
On battlefields- glory, set by "Hands of the Fates".

Ajax, scarred and toughened, many battles fought
never surrendering, ever giving his all
a warrior true, there within Olympic feuds caught
steady and ever mindful of his final fall,
sky hunting, watching universe's resplendent glow
as decreed by the Gods- set to put on a show.

    Elysium- open gates, paradise awaits.
On battlefields- glory, set by "Hands of the Fates".

Ajax, courageous warrior of Greek legend's fame
gifted with prowess of strength and courage to match
of Homer's Troy, that Greek hero, one and the same
always fated, for a Trojan war death to catch,
there on bloody soil, as Olympus had decreed
death claimed he, born of true and heroic Greek seed.

    Elysium- open gates, paradise awaits.
On battlefields- glory, set by "Hands of the Fates".

Into That Realm Where Sadness Can Not Play

He was so tired, he had lived his long life,
knowing Time wields its long razor sharp knife
stabbing, stabbing, ever in its blade goes
until death comes, ending all that one knows
In his final hours, heart and soul recalls,
life, its many treasures, its golden balls
love, her touch, her beauty truly divine
romance, and all that life's true joy defines.

He walked down many a dusty road,
seeking truth, to lighten life's heavy loads
having found peace, within her loving arms
blessed to be willing slave to her charms
That sad night, he gazed at Heaven above
wanting to tell her of his faithful love
with sad tear-filled blue eyes, out loud he cried
she was my true love, my all that hath died.

He looked up at a pale, ghastly new moon
shouting - come, come death you are not too soon
let your crimson sword, willing soul destroy
I that feared your final touch since a boy
no longer seek to avoid that last breath
release me, that I may join her in death
I dare'st thy touch to this old soul here take
for her sweet touch, this life I now forsake.

Soft wind rose, its hands did spirit embrace
his dying heart, as bright smile lit his face
then down she came, to escort him away
into that realm where sadness can not play
his dear departed wife, her touch so soft
then night low moaned, as two lights went aloft
he that no longer grieved having found peace
accepted death's blade and its sweet release.

From Poet's Pen, Love's Infinite Colors May Flow

From poet's pen, love's infinite colors may flow
Even when, it inks verse of darkness down below
And poet's heart, gifts to others, romantic light
Be still gasping breath, as Venus dares show her might
As depths of love, 'a la Romeo and Juliet
There her favored lovers rejoice tete-a-tete.

From poet's heart, ripen fruits, Art that purely grows
Majestic as the golden treasures Nature sows
Ever as, expanding roots, Love's beautiful trees
Glide as sensual waves, building hope in swirling seas
Singing of love's first born, its great beauty con amore
Soft vows in passion flung from loving paradise shores.

From poet born breath, exhaled in torrents of praise
Ink gems left before death, cutting through world's malaise
As voice from depths of wilderness and solitude
Berating lies, man's usual hateful attitudes
Falling back on hope, truth and a rose's beauty sublime
Creating art, waging battle against fleeting Time.

From poet's pen, love's infinite colors may flow.
Even should the be dark verses from down below.

At Peace And In Sweet Awe Of Bronze Shaving Of New Rising Moon

Night, its darkened whispers had come, its silence had fallen
there in the midst of Nature with its deep woods a'callin'
campfire burning and crackling, 'neath Heaven and sky above
away from city throngs, Life- world's impudent push and shove.
Staring peacefully at space- into Heaven's glowing glitter
feeling harmony with night, Nature and its roaming critters
at peace and in sweet awe of bronze shaving of new rising moon
a sad thought flung its poison arrows, this ends far too soon!

Fire had burned its music, lowered its bright flashing flames
solemn was that moment, as again heard- this Life is no game
for despite this beauty, luminous glows of this-- God's design
echoing words reminding, all this cries- all is a sent sign
and Life is its purpose, Love is truly its greatest treasure
by Light of truth and wisdom, man may find his true measure
and far off, an owl hoots and midnight sounds play a fair tune
blessed marvelous revelation, that summer night in June!

Gentle winds a'blowin', such paradise I pray more may find
great knowing, in giving and receiving- Love is truly kind
before sleeping, time to again look deep into Heaven's glow
hold joy and pleasure as Nature's blessed magnificence shows
man the pilgrim, earth the spinning realm, death the dark slayer
ships are slow sailing, seas are rolling, we are but mere players
waves tossing to and fro, Light is shining with God at the helm
we'll be alright, if we let not world's wicked ways overwhelm!

Night, its darkened whispers had come, its silence had fallen
there in the midst of Nature with its deep woods a'callin'
campfire burning and crackling, 'neath Heaven and sky above

    Note:

To keep with my goal, my mission to write
to remain positive by way of my composing
positive, uplifting poetry - perhaps even
by creating one new poem every three days
I rose this morn at 4 am, having these first
few verses remembered from a dream last night,
I sat and composed this new and heartfelt piece.
With hope that it inspires others and may be a
healing gift when they too may ever need it.
    God bless...

Now Is The Time To Hunker Down And Write

Now is the time to hunker down and write
heal wounded heart, defeating dark of night
    allow ink's flow, imaginative breath,
to stop tragic thinking of loss and death
weave poetic art, feel powerful joy
pray true, against dark's power to destroy.

Now is the time to hunker down and pen
words that curse sad fate of women and men
allow heart its deepest of reliefs,
find again, truth, light of divine beliefs
soak paper in expressive ink, gift light
to counter evil world's usual blight.

Now is the time to hunker down and tell
of soul and mind's power to dark dispel
allow faith its powers and its just dues,
let new born poetry, wash away blues
with true honor, poetic art enhance
enjoy life and set eager pen to dance.

Now is the time to hunker down and see
firm and true, that love and kindness are key
allow eyes again, love's power behold,
refuse to believe world's many lies told
kneel each magnificent new morn to pray
that love, mercy, and divine hope holds sway.

Now is the time to hunker down and write
heal wounded heart, defeating dark of night
    allow ink flow, imaginative breath,
to stop tragic thinking of loss and death
weave poetic art, feel powerful joy
pray true, against dark's power to destroy.

Here In The Now, Amidst Fleeing Of Twilight,
    Poem number one of series

Here in the now, amidst the pale twilight
that fleeting moment, - dying of the night
that most precious air, - dying of the light
cometh, morn's breath, - its beautiful new sight.

Here in the now, within mind's newest eye
that pondering thought, - let my spirit fly
that exquisite joy, - sweetest tears I cry
cometh, renewed hope, - truth I'll not deny.

Here in the now, as that whisper so thrills
that divine promise, - love needing no pills
that merciful vow, - relief from world's ills
cometh, beautiful truth, - love over-spills.

Here in the now, amidst fleeing of twilight
That stirring moment, - waking God's divine might.

Are We Not Brothers, Made Of The Same Dirt,
(Tribute to Philip Freneau and his poem,
    The Dying Indian)

Are We Not Brothers, Made Of The Same Dirt

I welcome you sweet dawn, soft break of day
As your vibrant voice sounds, seeming to say
Lad, I bid you relief from dark and gray
Feel my coming golden rays and rejoice
So precious life's gift, giving love free voice
Embrace your honor, honor that wise choice-
You are of braver heart, red is your blood
You are red-man, Native pride your soul floods
You hunt ancestral lands, wade tidal muds,
There amidst tall trees, beauty of the glades
You young lad, were of pure Native bloods made
Spirit must stay strong, as your time soon fades
In your dreams, you sail to paradise isles
You race through countryside for miles and miles
Live, soon your tribes will become sad exiles-
As you dare the great beast to your soul fight
Search mysteries that hide truth out of sight
Know that same hungry beast, will your race smite!

Alas! Fate's wicked hands, its evil sends.
Stopping mercy, from which Heaven descends.

I beg mother earth, this carnage avert
Heal dark souls of men, stop such coming hurts
Are we not brothers, made of the same dirt
Do we all not cry, and same red blood bleed
Are we all not sprung from weak mortal seeds
In pain, do we not, to same Father plead-
Will violence and death, your greed absolve
Can we seek to our differences solve
Must destruction serve as means to evolve,
Is what will be gained, great treasure to you
Shall we learn to love same sky's glowing blues
Share life's blessings, paying brotherly dues
Walk lit paths, love flowering meadows too-
Live serving peace and discover anew
Enjoy a rainbow's hope, its many hues?

Alas! Fate's wicked hands, its evil sends.
Stopping mercy, from which Heaven descends.

Vision Of Beauty, A True Heroine,
    number three of the series

    She bravely stood there
    her heart- its love
    unfurling into the evening winds
    in the wide open meadow
    Nature her ally,
beauty and eager soul her shield
    none but the perceptive,
    the keen,
    the wise,
    those bothering to deeper see
    saw the angel
    saw the invisible tears
    the enormity of heartache
    as sun and sky conspired
    to cast golden rays
    and thus her spirit transform
    from despair,
    from sorrowing, from grievous doubts
    and in a mere blink
    command blooming flowers
    to gift sweetest aroma
    and deep essence of beauty
    unto one in need
    unto she
    a true heroine
    a mother
    watching her beloved child
    in the glowing meadow
    dancing barefoot
    and laughing so gaily with
    purest innocence of childish glee

Going to try an experiment. I will now post a poem that was written by Edgar Allan Poe.
And then start to compose a tribute poem, with that poem in mind and the thoughts it inspired.
Point is to see how fast I can finish one that is by my standards good enough to pass muster. --Tyr

Poe's poem--one that is not dark....

    To The River

    by Edgar Allan Poe
    (published 1829)

Fair river! in thy bright, clear flow
    Of crystal, wandering water,
Thou art an emblem of the glow
Of beauty -- the unhidden heart --
    The playful maziness of art
    In old Alberto's daughter;

But when within thy wave she looks --
Which glistens then, and trembles --
Why, then, the prettiest of brooks
    Her worshipper resembles;
For in my heart, as in thy stream,
    Her image deeply lies --
The heart which trembles at the beam
    Of her soul-searching eyes.

    ***********************************

    My tribute offering,
    Times started composing, 8:58am
    finished 9:24am
This went far faster and came out far better than
i ever thought it could or would.--Tyr

O'Bright Star, Thy Bright Gleamings True Hearts See

O'Bright star! will thy gleam this sad heart sate
with splendor of glow, quench our dying thirsts
    Thy exquisite beauty, mankind debates
as well, bold shining depths of thy starbursts.

Why gift that grin, that Chesire cat-eye glow.
As riddle we are never meant to know?

O'Bright star! will thy eternal gaze blink
a galactic voice thy wisdom imparts
Are thy infinite gleamings - wine to drink,
as a soothing balm to heal broken hearts,
Shall ever thy distant voice our souls hear
or will we destroy earth with hate and fear?

May we in our pitifully sad state.
Reach, touch thy heart's glow, to truly relate?

Does Ever Eternity, Mortal Souls Beckon

Does ever eternity, mortal souls beckon
We in fragile shells, its calls so deftly defy
Because of our deep lusting, dark set and wanton
We seek our malignant pleasures before we die?
In our vast swirling soup of craven vanities
Our own dark deceits imprison our aching souls
Life culminates, dreams fill up with insanity
Blinded to truth, justice and life's great coming tolls.

As invisible evil darken tendrils spread
Busy world gives cover, life flees ever onward
Mankind too often stumbles, and crying in dread
Leading to aches, a life cut by sharp broken shards.
O'that high Heavens would this insanity stop
Reveal the invincible light and man's soul heal
Plant anew, seeds of love, reaping a bumper crop
With divine mercy, stop mankind's dark-lusts to steal.

Does ever, this wicked world slow down, take a rest
Cease using night's cover for tempting man's dark lusts
Bow to truth, stop its ravaging that life besets
Seal those Hellish gates just below earth's shallow crusts?
Will malevolence, return peace to those living
That which Eden did bountifully its fruits yield
    Serenity, happiness, blessed gifts giving
When life sat under God's unconquerable shield?

Does ever eternity, mortal souls beckon
We in fragile shells, its calls so deftly defy
Because of our deep lusting, dark set and wanton
We seek our malignant pleasures before we die?

Swift Cometh Death Angel, Far, Far, So Far Too Soon

From purple-crested heavens down to golden moon
Swift cometh death angel, far, far, so far too soon
Over roaring waves, across earth's glitter-dome seas
It flew by shattering tops of tall oak trees.

Before dawn's rays breaking, and morning breeze curled
Amidst the raging blackness of this savage world
Bitter end for he that never love forsaking
Death in invisible heaving breast came a'raking.
He there falling as a shadow passing away
In the distance she crying, as she knelt to pray.

Therein was no blood letting, just a dying moan
His life was battles and betting, he in a blink gone
Sky began a'tearing, raindrops splattering ground
As she had long been fearing, he died hell-bound
With rosy bosom heaving, she sought death's sweet touch
Earth she prayed to be leaving, his death, too much
Thunder began clapping, black clouds heading her way
She heard Styx's waves lapping, soon at his feet she lay.

From purple-crested heavens down to golden moon.
Swift cometh death angel, far, far, so far too soon.
