Thanks, D. That is what I did when it happened, as I recall. Accelerated pretty hard, then let up on the gas quickly. I was testing it for quick acceleration- the kind you need off a light, or passing some dweeb left-lane coaster. Then I got nervous because I was on a suburban road. (Should have done it on a highway, but there wasn’t one near the dealer).

    I knew you would know.

Hey, this all made me think of your old buddy GotZoom, I think his name was here on the board. I think you two lost touch over the years? I always thought he was a cool guy.

    Pop! Bang!

It should to it most on deceleration - like hard on the gas, then quick lift while in gear. In that instance I think it's probably okay, the rest of the info here notwithstanding.

Tuners of turbo cars often offer a 'bangs and pops' tune that makes the car do that nearly always.

    I find it endearing

    My pleasure.

Yeah - Don, i think was his name; and he just dropped off the face of the earth. We both had/have (i still have mine) RX8s. Am guessing I haven't seen or talked to him in 15 years.

[edit] And thanks to @NightTrain for sending me the FB message to check the board.

We couldn’t reproduce it, and the salesman said the car just doesn’t do that. Ok.

    Thoughts please? Is it concerning?

    Other points:
Inventory for sedans is on the low side.
This is the last Turbo they have, and other dealers have very few too
I have a good offer for a Nissan Altima which expires tomorrow, because it’s their end of year.

Perhaps it's the last one that dealership has for a reason.

That could be. Though there was a “chip problem” in the manufacturing facility for Mazda. Maybe just the Mazda 6, I’m not sure, and of the three dealers we contacted, they only had one of this Turbo model left. They will get more, though soonish.

Here’s the not- backfiring one I’m pretty close to deciding on.

Here’s my new baby. I am trying to learn all the new features. My last car was a 2009, so there are a ton of things to get used to.

He’s a Mazda 6 Grand Touring Turbo, and he’s mine. Yesterday, I got the hose and washed off the stuff falling off the trees onto him, lol.

Pardon the messy landscaping. We haven’t yet done a spring cleanup.

    His name Dave by chance?

Beautiful car, and I can picture a young lady in it!

All the best of luck with it & nothing but safe travels!

I wish you all the best in your travels, I still like driving my Mazda 6, but will enjoy being higher!
