I lost all kinds of tools that were scattered around and on the lower portion of my bench. The hot water heater needs to be replaced now as does a large portion of our HVAC unit. Then the wood from any of the interior walls and 2 doors. A portion of the garage door and the sensors destroyed. Just too much stuff to list and things to be checked out once we can finally get rid of all of the water. Even that, still have like 2-3 feet - but have some larger exterior pumps running as well.

Can you have your utilities raised up off the floor so that they're higher than the floodplain level?

We were already thinking of getting a raised system, hanging from the ceiling level. Now with the hot water heater, we already had it raised up and the top was as high as it could go. I need one that kinda goes sideways and then lift that off the ground.

I want to get one of those emergency gates like I saw at my local ymca. With these gates closed the water was able to come up several feet and not a drop got inside. Something like that would be sweet.

Better yet, a solution to the issue, of which I'm more than clueless there.

^I'm not sure of a water heater with a tank of any size that would work but I'm sure they're out there. How about a tankless? Not very big at all. An HVAC unit hanging close to a ceiling shouldn't be a problem but if you need a whole new system not as nice.
