From Isolation Into Contemplation Of A Better Tomorrow
Part Two

Spring had come amongst the eager popular trees
he walked the old trail with his arthritic knees,
thinking about ongoing life, wide open plains
angry sky above, promising a flood of rain.

Hearing river, melodic was its soothing roar
if only she was with him, life would be no bore
youth and its glories jumped into weary mind
what today, what little newborn joy could he find?

Then there it was, a boat, his boat long ago lost
there in red letters, "LIVE BEFORE THE KILLING FROST"
found again, after seven long years had flown by
little joy had come- he remembered her blue eyes.

Fleeting tho' it was, for lonely then cried out
fool- remember she is gone roared that loud shout
ahh yes, to eternal grieving self he mused
life relents not, for a spell he was confused.

Reality knocked, saying grandson is gone
how could that you forget, you are always alone
that flooded river, in your lost boat take a ride
stop weeping, childish sorrow I cannot abide.

Narrative

Note-
Part two of a planned 4 part narrative
but hey with the uncertainty of life who knows,
could be cut short or on a mere whim extended until
another storm blows out the near fading lights…..
