If you look at the other thread I posted about Hamas, they inherited a pretty choice piece of land. Making a go of it with that was not in their plans. Another tidbit of info: Canaan is the land. Not the people. The people who occupied the land are "Canaanites". Guess who the Canaanites are? The Jews AND the Philistines. They mostly peacefully coexisted on separate parts of the land.

I assume nether religion is keen on that info becoming common knowledge since no effort has been made to address it.
