    Why Hath This Universe Given Sorrow Its Great Powers

    Why hath this Universe given Sorrow its great powers,
    with hard, dark rains, that our sad souls it showers?
    Booming echoes that shatter bone's marrows
    penetrating depths of anguish's lair with blackest arrows.
    Why does Fate bequeath it with such insidious blades,
    where its armies into crying hearts issue slaying raids?
    If such answers found, perhaps we could again stand tall,
    with truth and courage's depths, rise and not again fall!

    Why hath Destiny granted Sorrow such malevolent force
    that we pawns, are washed away in its raging course?
    Can no higher power, defeat this wicked, malignant malady
    Rescue our weeping souls, send us the needed remedy?
    Why must those seven unmerciful doors all be black,
    are we so far fallen as to never get back on track?
    If answers were found, perhaps we could again stand tall,
    with truth and courage's depths rise and not again fall!

    Why hath Love been cursed by not giving us greater shields,
    march us in peace across bright and rose strewn fields?
    When shall the blinders be removed from deceived eyes
    stay the red flow and stop the epic and wailing cries?
    Can life ever progress far enough to such knowledge find
    relief for love-lost heartaches and such tortured minds?
    If answers were found, perhaps we could again stand tall,
    with truth and courage's depths, rise and not again fall!

    Some Danced Down Lanes, In That Hippie Holocaust

    Thoughts of those days when so many felt all was lost
    some danced down lanes, in that "hippie holocaust".
    O' horror, long hair and showing too damn much skin
    with some so set, simply young at heart could not win.
    Some did their best to accept needed and good change
    but not when demands were, "burn up the entire range"!

    Thoughts of those days, when so many felt all was lost
    some thought, destroy hippies at any and all cost.
    Now with hindsight, we can see they were not so bad
    and much of it was just a short, rebellious fad.
    Changes they brought were ripe fruit, born of ancient trees
    as they rode with youthful joy those turbulent seas!

    Alas! When far too much seemed to come far too fast
    those with cruel stone-set hearts cried, this can not last.
    History now shows much of it was not so bad
    New life, was the right of any young girl or lad.
    Yet those screaming out of deep, darkest gloom and doom
    wanted no such greater freedoms from birth to tomb!

    Alas! When far too much seemed to come far too fast
    Many demanded we sail ships with nary a mast.
    We in turn, chided them as being just old fools
    older than dirt and as stubborn as old farm mules.
    Looking back one has to laugh, for both sides were wrong
    life is more, it is an ever evolving song!

    Reality shows clear errors and so much more
    we look back and see why young ventured far from shore.
    For it was there, they could with freedom, sing and dance
    shed old skins and revel in love's treasured romance.
    Thus history tells, new was sought, from olden way
    within that path, "hippy free love", had come to stay!

    Reality shows clear errors and so much more
    Life oft then went wild as hell no longer a bore.
    We lads saw the beauty of scantily clad girls
    their legs, lips and sweet curves more precious that pearls.
    O' what a great time to be both young and alive
    so much new freedom and its spirit we did thrive!

    Thoughts of those days when so many felt all was lost
    some danced down lanes, in that "hippie holocaust".
    O' horror, long hair and showing too damn much skin
    with some so set, simply young at heart could not win.
    Some did their best accepting needed and good change
    but not when demands were, "burn up the entire range"!

    Find The Waiting Light And Redemption's Well Lit Path

    Ride not that raging bull, horns poisoned to the tips
    your heart armored against all that would inflict pain;
    such soul warping feeds on the venom as it drips,
    as blindness leads until only hatred remains!

    Stop! Let what little shreds of hidden light exist
    expand in your weeping and crying heart then heal;
    with that smallest of sparks, your lost soul must resist
    greatest hate and sorrows that leads you to not feel!

    As each glowing new dawn, then grows your new birthed love
    your eyes will open to joy's softest touch and tears;
    you may again, see Light cast from Heavens above,
    find that redemption's path, destroys all hate and fears!

    When glorious Light renews heart, love and its sight
    such pure joy comes from Heaven, not hatred's dark might.

    O'Lord, Can Enduring Such Sorrows Ever Make Me Whole

    I walked alone, when the lonely had its hold on me
    I was as good as gone, yet this shattered heart was not free
    I knew she would never phone, and her silence let me be
    I found the road to nothingness, sad skies and empty seas.

    O'Lord, will this darkness ever leave this broken soul?
    O'Lord, can enduring such sorrows ever make me whole?

    I felt the pains, that nightfall tore into my broken heart
    I walked in the cold rains, tho' my world was ripped apart
    I sought what little remains, and with its hope dawn's new chart
    I washed away the stains, crying tears for another start.

    O'Lord, will this darkness ever leave this broken soul?
    O'Lord, can enduring such sorrows ever make me whole?

    I embraced the agonizing sad, its lost soul crushing blues
    I wept for the past bad, its mysteries without any clues
    I forced away the mad, those curses that say, pay your dues
    I prayed with my all, for her swift return or just any news.

    O'Lord, will this darkness ever leave this broken soul?
    O'Lord, can enduring such sorrows ever make me whole?

    Dec 24th 10 pm, 2002, (Simple Rhyme)

    Note: Written 16 years ago from today, this was born from me earlier that day, watching children open early Christmas presents, allowed just one each - for the remainder must wait until Christmas morn. As I now look back, and rejoice at having both that precious memory and my having written about it when still young, healthy and full of life.
    Christmas Morn A Poem, Two Thousand And Two

    Short are the hours until Christmas morn lands
    joy joins children in its caroling bands.
    Casting brighter rays, snow canvas with shine
    one day that we should think not, what is mine.
    Happiness flows, we see sweet faces glow
    this cheerful day, we oft pray hours pass slow!

    As laughter rings, and wrapping paper sings
    with kids gleaming smiles and season's good things.
    Echoes are cast from wrapping papers torn
    all should know, this day our Savior was born.
    That man should have more than just life on earth
    souls are born from our God and all have worth!

    On this Christmas day let us all rejoice!
    Pray for love, peace and all, in one true voice!

    Wishing Merry Christmas to the great folks at this wonderful site, where we still have the freedom to express our views,
    and also condemn the darkness that increases in this wicked world every day.-Tyr

    Our Love That Once Rivaled Illuminating Sun

    Was your light dead, its glow destroyed by dark
    Your eyes blinded, and our romance cast aside:
    Twas this, dark thought of loss, that I have died,
    That you dared to treat our great love as a lark,
    In your longing heart that my soul did deep entwine
    Each one of its chambers I filled with my all,
    Yet such abundance could not prevent our fall
    Now upon its poison we both must feed and dine.
    Our love that once rivaled illuminating sun,
    Gardens set in paradise, in their fullest bloom:
    We unaware, evil rests not until it brings on doom,
    To slayeth love, all its treasures thus be undone,
    Woe to us, our time was but a brief, dying dream,--
    Our sweet songs vanishing as glistening of dew,--
    Not enough, such true words said, "darling, I love you",
    Dark of Fate's weeping gasp, birthed its dying scheme.

    The Great Sorrow, The Plea And The Letter
    (Collaboration with, )

    We were close friends back in those ancient days
    me and my anger, you and your kind ways.
    Alas! We found love, turned into a curse
    me with my Ann, you with her sister nurse.
    Friend, such sorrow I felt when you lost her
    her illness and Fate gave its dark whisper.

    Four decades have flown by, can we both see
    Fate has been harsh, not kind to you or me.
    Your Helen with the dark hair and bright smile
    my Ann, each with us but a little while.
    Did we not love, with purest hearts and souls
    does not this dark world take its heavy tolls?

    Time beat us both into sad submission
    tho' we were strong, Fate asked not permission.
    Pray I, you too have found that inner peace
    sought love again, found its sweeter release.
    For me, this plea to you is long overdue
    lets again be great friends in life, we two.

    Where Hides, Those Tyrian Sails So Longed For

    Where hides, those Tyrian sails so longed for,
    days lived far beyond this wretched, black door.
    Can such bright fruits only be found in dreams,
    are we condemned to one stagnant life-stream?

    Sweeter days of youth knew not this sad gray,
    says memories of adventurous days.
    Has Time thus so slowed our spirit and soul,
    as to make us pay this sad, boring toll?

    Could it just be, decay of flesh and blood,
    holds and mires us in this destructive mud?
    Washed into banks of a river now dried,
    long before this weaken body has died?

    As I look for answers in sky above
    comes reply, " turn back thy heart to ALL love" !

    Epitaph Of My Old Friend, An Honorable Man

    He wore not great riches nor riding cloak,
    Yet stood tall and regal as mighty oak,
    No haste of greedy sweat fell from his brow,
    worldly wealth was to him no sacred cow:
    His enemies found he knew not retreat
    Yet he was a pleasant fellow to meet
    He had an inner force, massive power
    Stood against world, like a castle tower.

    As mighty oak he withstood stormy winds
    Found joy with his close neighbors and dear friends
    His home a castle without guarding moat
    Man of letters, he and inner soul wrote:
    Poetry and songs devised to bring cheer
    Whether home or at taverns drinking beer
    His oath, vowing to treat one and all fair
    A gentle man, yet cross him none would dare.

    Had you known him, his honor so true,
    Fairly he would take the measure of you,
    If found worthy, happily shake your hand,
    Let you hunt on his grandfather's wild lands:
    Be a trusty friend, should you ask for more
    From his table, his wines so freely pour
    Full of vigor, to needy he gave
    One others shed tears visiting his grave.

    What Of Famous Warriors, How Should They Be Judged

    Can the greatest warriors be as brave as they say
    Lives judged by bloody deeds rather than by Love
    should not their character reflect far more the man
    more than victorious fight, when push came to shove
    should brave deeds overshadow each one's mortal span
    family Love, all of Life thus far greater weigh?

    Dare we set scales that may belittle other facts
    Love of all other earthen treasures cast aside
    what of dearest children raised to be faithful
    one can not stop heroic pride, its rushing tide
    fame true earned, by default makes us all grateful
    biased judgments given, are oft hard to retract.

    Of heroes deaths and its powers to reincarnate
    the imagined greatness of dying fighting true
    Statues, spears, shields and sabers relics that present
    perhaps more praise than savagery should thus accrue
    for mixed in was blood-lust we all know was Hell-sent
    caught in colors that war paintings so decorate.

    Is it right to judge for war victory alone
    that the man, only had blood-letting to give
    can we rationalize that such is work of Fate
    in war, innocent victims had no right to Live
    should such men be judged by barbarity and hate
    and weight of their deadly deeds thus have to atone?

    Can the greatest warriors be as brave as they say
    Lives judged by bloody deeds rather than by Love
    should not their character reflect far more the man
    more than victorious fight, when push came to shove
    should brave deeds overshadow each one's mortal span
    family Love, all of Life thus far greater weigh?

    Brightest Of Gems, In Glowing Emerald Forest

    There was a great tree there, its roots firmly planted
    as solid as love vows, those never recanted,
    its massive trunk and limbs, majestic to behold
    beautiful treasures, as in tales oft retold
    surrounding woods, a glimmering emerald green
    all in all, as if from a bright fairy tale scene.

    To visit, watch dawn's lights set it colors aglow
    is to see Heaven and Nature's truth, clearly know,
    our lives are wrapped in fragile, weakened human states
    chained cells of wants, each one praying its not too late
    seeing evidence of Heaven's stamp upon earth
    giving promises of better life, ones own worth.

    To find such peace basking in its soft healing touch
    one should kneel down to pray, requesting not too much,
    for Heaven's light flows forth from that massive, tall king
    from its branches, flocks of glorious birds oft sing
    within its cools shades, its living colors send out
    proof of God's glory, that cause believers to shout.

    Pen Wakes, Shakes And Casts Its Darkest Long Frown

    When faithful pen, releases not its ink
    heaven and stars refuse usual blinks
    moon dims and lets out moaning mournful cries
    poison arrows shoot across wailing skies
    Paper cringes in desperate despair,
    around weeping edges begins to tear.

    At such times, poet's heart fearing such dread
    attacks with great zeal complaints in my head
    wages war with a soul begging release
    while my muse and I ask both to please cease
    Pen wakes, shakes and casts its darkest long frown,
    cries, "in this circus, you sir, are a clown"!

    In this battle, where blood so freely flows
    my muse wallows in pity, cries out loud
    my power weakens, as mighty pen's grows
    will heart this epic loss, thus be so proud
    Paper gasping, at pleading so sincere
    even I the poet, shed salty tears!

    When faithful pen, releases not its ink
    heaven and stars refuse usual blinks
    moon dims and lets out moaning mournful cries
    poison arrows shoot across wailing skies
    Paper cringes in desperate despair,
    around weeping edges begins to tear.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Vague Memories Of Slow Fading Melodies
    When broken dreams await hard hands of Fate
    And willing dark, its powers concentrates
    Life slows and diminishes as on cue
    All has passed before, nothing is new.
    In that wretched place, souls are sliced deep
    By horrid nightmares, in disturbing sleep.
    This poet's pen often dares to relate
    In echoes as if crying for lost mate
    With weeping words-tears and resounding moans
    Through wide valleys of darker undertones.
    In that aching place, epic pains accrue
    such is human life, for nothing is new.
    As splashed ink soaks onto famished page
    One may see injustice, well up with rage
    Oft heart's desires stir that miserable soul
    To ask for pity's coin to pay the toll.
    In that regretful place, black snags abound
    Such is dessert to Fate's hungriest hounds.
