Default Congressmen want Marines expelled by vaccine mandates brought back

Unlike whoever said what, the Marines made mission in recruitment so that's some BS. Second, the Marines don't want people who will defy orders they don't like. No matter the specific. The order was not an unlawful one, end of story as far as the Marine Corps is concerned (or was).

Today's touchy-feely, kinder, gentler wussified and politically-motivated leadership will probably cave. If there's one thing the Marine Corps hierarchy historically lives in fear of it's negative media.

It's a whole different World. One that lives or dies/functions on good order and discipline. It doesn't need any civilian bullshit. Anyone wants to be a civilian, there's the door. Involuntary service ended in the 1970s.

    Serious question Gunny.
If all marines are given an order to "shoot yourself in the foot".
    Is that an unlawful order?
Should every marine just obey it?
For the sake of "good order & discipline"?

It is proper to take alarm at the first experiment on our liberties. The freeman of America did not wait till usurped power had strengthened itself by exercise, and entangled the question in precedents. James Madison

That is not a lawful order. Purposefully causing injury to oneself is a violation of the UCMJ and punishable by court martial.

Just to answer your next remark in advance: It is not purposefully injuring oneself to be immunized in accordance with medical directive. Whether or not you like it, the vaccine is considered safe and effective internationally.

I'm not seeing winning many battles with units full of Marines picking and choosing which orders they wish to obey. Neither are they won by Marines laid up in sick bay, causing a manpower shortage on the line.

From a Marine Corps POV, administratively discharging Marines for refusing to follow orders is Marines getting off light since most who refuse to follow orders are slapped with whatever additional charges and court martialed.
