It's a 100 year old house.

We tore up the floors, the plaster off the brick walls and the lathe (sp?) and plaster ceilings. Ray and Gunny put drywall up on the ceiling, got a concrete floor put in, we painted the ceiling and the exposed pipes that are just below the ceiling. It looks pretty good. Oh, and Gunny ran new electrical in there since the old stuff was ... well, old and there needed to be quite a few more outlets put in.

Next step is to put a protective coating on the floor, as it is going to be his personal workshop.

I wasn't considering the possibility of exposed plumbing, which I actually think can look pretty cool in the right building.

This is function over form but still looks pretty good.

A lot of these old houses have hardwood floors - used for having dances- in their basements. Really pretty cool but this one had had termites and the floor was eaten up.

These homes also used to be heated with coal. Gunny and I ended up utterly filthy when we pulled all the ceiling down during the summer. Ugh!
