Wow, how Machiavellian this post!I never thought of that. Seriously, from what I've read over time, I don't know that manslaughter would be proven.
I think Zimmerman contributed to the loss of life, though his shooting seems not to have been excessive.
It really should be not be tried in the media, which is all we have and have all been commenting on.

They won't discuss the discovery process until the defense asks for it, according to the special prosecutor. So who knows what else they may know that we don't. But IMO, a plain old self defense claim would protect him in this case. Other than rhetoric, I've yet to see anything to suggest that Zimmerman WASNT defending himself or thought his life was in danger. All the rhetoric in the world, the assumptions and monday morning QB'n won't matter - it's going to be what they can prove. We have one eyewitness that we're aware of, and his story supports Zimmerman. We have another witness who heard screams, and didn't think it was that of Zimmerman. And then we have the forensics of the case, and by that I mean what paramedics saw and other on scene responders. And does a thorough investigation support that Zimmerman was getting pummeled as he claims.
I'm obviously not an attorney, and don't even know shit about this defense to be honest. I've always been under the impression that the prosecution must prove it's crime. So I'm assuming Zimmerman doesn't even need to prove it was self defense, just make the claim, and then the state must prove otherwise. That being the case, and with the details that we all know at this moment, I don't see how they can prove murder.

Involuntary Manslaughter is a lesser included offense to second degree murder. He could me charged with second degree murder and be convicted as involuntary manslaughter as a lesser included.

They will accept a plea to a lesser charge, the strategy of 2nd degree murder is, you bypass the grand jury which might no-bill, and you appease the "justusbots" out there.
If he doesn't plea out they risk acquittal or outright dismissal for lack of evidence. This never sees a jury.
