No politics (remeber when there were those braying about the returning coffins...yadda, yadda, yadda?), no ceremony, no crush of media

May those returning via this route rest in peace.

Simple answer:
They accomplished their objective in doing so and now a thing called "reality" is going on.
We also don't see news reports on how the Opresident is responsible for collateral damage, killing innocents and so forth. Afghanistan is clearly Obama's war. He admitted in the election that he intended to go there but yet is held to a different standard. Liberals don;t even call it a war. What is it then?
If you continue to think the way you have always thought, you will continue to get what you have always got!
A government big enough to provide you everything you need is big enough to take everything you have!
All that may be true; the point is that those soldiers, airmen, sailors and Marines whose remains are returned to this country are NOT political fodder and should be accorded the all the respect and honor we as a nation can muster ... regardless of who is Commander in Chief or what political agenda the media and others may have.
I didn't meaqn to take anything away from the thread byu what I said. I attend military funerals from time to time as a member of the Patriot Guard. Frankly i have seen enough of them and agree it hardly seems worth it anymore to see our soldiers die for a system that is destined to piss on their graves.
That was more of what I meant to imply. I don;t want to see any more kids buried.

Understood.
The "system" being what it is does not diminish the sacrifice those young men and women have made...that is what I meant.
Believe me, those who know me will tell you I will be the first to engage in a spirited discussion about such things (in another thread of course)....lol
Perhaps the best thing is the fact that the media no longer wishes to keep such a close count. It seems to me that providing the wherewithal for families to come to Dover if that's their wishes, is a good thing. Their being protected from the press is good too.
Regardless of the 'state of the country', politics, good wars or bad, all who serve and die, deserve respect and honor. I'm glad their loved ones can be there, if they so choose. If not, as the article indicates, little changes, as demonstrated in this post from Blackfive, later made into a tv movie:

"The government is a child that has found their parents credit card, and spends knowing that they never have to reconcile the bill with their own money"-Shannon Churchill
Being an Anti-War person (conventional) does not make me any less respectful of the military than anyone else. I'm a vet too. I'm also very patriotic. I just think as times change the methodology should too. I don;t want to fight other people's battles. I'm tired of beiong the world's police officer.
