Answering you ... the UK was verging on bankruptcy in 1945. And we had to rebuild, after years of bombing and wartime social hardships, only with an acute manpower shortage to contend with, on account of the fact of how so many of them had been killed !
The last of our rationing only ended in 1955, for example.
Anyway, I'm not going to go out of my way to justify myself in the face of any of your bigotry. Why should I ? Why would I consider you to be worth the trouble ?
But .. if you want a little taste of British bigotry - we Brits like to muse on how Americans always enter world wars after they've been going on for quite some time. Our WWI was 1914-18. Yours was 1917-'18. And you kept out of WWII until the Japanese forced you into it, in December 1941. We'd been at war ever since September 1939.
