Just so you know, Marines are part of the Department of the Navy. We might pick at each other, try to outdrink each other and get in fights, but it's like picking on my brother. We'll close ranks so fast you won't even see it happening.

For the record, squids know their stuff. They put their asses on the line as much as anyone else. All anyone thinks about is a battleship gunfight. They provide landing and air support. You ain't seen no one happier when two FA-18 jocks come rolling in.

You want to go alternate scenario, think about jarheads driving the damned boat. We'd still be in Tahiti or some shit. That's IF we could even find it.

They (begrudgingly of course) earned my respect.

My dad used to say... With out the Marines the Navy would not have anywhere to go, and without the Navy the Marines were just a bunch of guys in the water.....

I can actually swim better than most squids. But if you're asking me for directions you better have a map with grid squares on it. I'd end up at the South Pole.

Allowing for Magnetic Deviation and Variation I could reliably navigate you almost anywhere on the ocean with a chart, a stop watch and basic Navigation equipment...

Like I said, that's why I don't drive the damned boat.

I honestly do know how to navigate. Just trying to inject some Marine humor.

If you were REAL good, you could outrun a typhoon and keep the ship going with the water so ain't rocking and rolling the whole trip AND get where you're going. And what the crap is the stop watch for?

Elapsed time over a course between 2 sightings gives you your speed...

you cud be right. our test for swimming in boot was jump in a pool, swim a lap and pull yourself out. you'd be surprised how many boots had to be pulled out with a hook
