    Default Us air force

Happy birthday to all you wing nuts out there.
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

Should celebrate by shutting it down. What does the Air Force do that either the Army or the Navy or a combination of the two could't do better , while saving a LOT of money?

    Gotta love those Zoomies!

I did several cases with either active USAF or Air National Guard.

I have lost my mind. If found, please give it a snack and return it?

According to the National Search and Rescue Plan, the USAF is designated SAR Mission Coordinator
for the continental United States and Alaska.

Army and Navy do not have the authority, but can be called upon to assist by a request from the
USCG or USAF in time of crisis such as Katrina. USMC helo's flew side by side with USCG and USAF
helo's to rescue scores of trapped people in New Orleans.

And obviously the Navy COULD do that job.

They would probably even have to move some units and such from the AF to the Navy to accomplish that, but that would allow them to get rid of the AF bureaucracy, which every one of us who have served know how bloated those are in every branch.

I would rely far more with my Search and Rescue planning and knowledge than
    you personal opinion.

How much experience do you have in SAR planning and execution, Hmmm?

Navy posted an assault carrier, USS Iwo Jima, in New Orleans after Katrina. It was used as a fueling and
relief spot since USCG Air Station New Orleans was damn near wiped out.

The nearest fixed-wing area safe for landing was USCG Air Station Mobile AL, but it too was beat up by the storm.

The Air Ops Commander for Katrina was our Commanding Officer from USCG Air Station Humboldt Bay CA

What does that have to do with my statement man? I'm really beginning to believe you just don't know how to follow along in a conversation.

Air Force SAR people could be transferred to the Navy and allowed to continue doing the excellent job that they do, while doing away with the beuracracy of the Air Force. Saving money while still allowing the important work to be done.

No...you are too hard-headed to listen to experience. Your conversation is entirely one-sided.

It would take a major shuffling in the DOD to effect such a change.

USAF has a unique function that cannot be replicated by simple 'shift'. Things are fine
    as they exist now.
